    but as stallman was saying: there is still the risk if people starting writing new apps in C# that there will be a big dependency on it which could be crippling if removed a time later

    At the very least one would expect a module in General Relativity or at least Special relativity in an astrophysics course.

    does it have anything like noscript? or vimperator? These two are the main reason i use firefox at the moment. Noscript is invaluable.

    wait.. Most of these appear to be in the region of 2 years old. Many of them aren't security holes either but problems in general or not even problems related to the OS. Did you even look at the links you pasted?

    The terminal isnt a bad thing. especially for newbs its a handy way of helping them! "type this stuff in your terminal and now go away"

    Several Linux distributions work just fine just as installed. They don't need anything beyond what you might have to do if you were installing windows fresh.

    Last time I installed windows I had to spend 2 hours getting and installing drivers. Whereas Ubuntu was usable straight off after install

    have you ever seen instructions that use a GUI? They are filled with screenshots of every menu and where to click. (and then the gui isnt consistent between versions of a product/os) command line instructions only need a short few consise instructions. open terminal-> enter this-> press enter If anything using a gui is harder (Ive spent ages in windows previously looking for some sound options)
