I like how you call it "advanced" when I would have described it as resource hungry. (also It ran terribly on this dual-core laptop that it was sold with)
I wonder how companies reducing the bandwidth available to non-http protocols will affect this service.
Also ISPs here (BT) have terrible latency as well.
I wonder what sort of bandwidth it uses as well
I guess a major point is, how is copying copyrighted music theft? You aren't depriving someone of their music when you download. You are violating copyright by making an illegal copy, but its not theft.
"and within the HTTP realm some Web sites and services that use lots of upstream bandwidth are capped as well"
Capping particular websites sounds like a net neutrality issue to me...
What a load of crap.
The deliberate decrease in bandwidth affects all users. Why if you are using a non-http protocol (like multi-player games) should you experience a lower bandwidth (and presumably higher latencies)? this includes those who aren't the mythical 1% heavy users too.
The C&C server doesn't have to be located in the same country as the bots it controls. I would think a corporate network in britain could host C&C server.
that's wierd. Ubuntu worked out of the box for me on a 700mhz 192mb ram 8 year old laptop (including flash with youtube).
Just because someone gave you bad advice doesnt mean the whole system is flawed:/
As for Linux/Chrome, there are too many options within that category itself for any of them to become truly successful. You might explain Linux to a novice as if it's just another operating system, but once you get into the different distributions you'll scare casual users away.
The good thing about a google os is that average person doesn't need to care if it uses the Linux kernel. They aren't going to be dazzled by choices available in terms of distros either, they are just going to use the pre-installed google os that comes on the machine. The issues about choices only comes into play for new users who want to switch from windows on their current computer.
Thanks for the anti-stallman rant there, but I dont think he's saying Mono is "evil". Its that future lawsuits by microsoft may cause it to be removed and everything that depends on it

Thought to tag this along as well http://yro.slashdot.org/story/09/08/23/1921206/First-European-Provider-To-Break-Net-Neutrality

They chose their own government and market system. Who else is responsible for China except the Chinese?
Since when do they choose their own government... Your whole argument is based on the chinese plk
Why punish the staff for a company failure?
They won't stop, there's too much competition that can step in.
This is not a case of a patent troll, read up.
I can't be certain but I would wager it is not common for other smartphones to explode ...
If the site consisted of many powerpoint presentation documents on links then you could describe it as a powerpoint heavy site. so it is still valid
You would disagree, Your livelihood depends on it!

Do you have sources to back your 99+% claim? or is this a case of making statistics up on the spot because you think they are true.ow
$10/hour, thats bad, right? (ignorant european)
sure you can ... after being forced to buy windows
and you usaully build your own laptop too?
Since from reading the other posts it's not an exploitable issue, so none.
and don't forget malware

I think you missed his point entirely in that you cant have a stereotype for the software quality.

That sounds like something companies like to say to people to justify pay decreases.
