    Without proper planning, the world economy is going to tank, just think of 3.5 million (in the US alone) well paid truck drivers being unemployed and needing retraining.

    Autonomous vehicles will bring the packages/mail into a certain range and depending on location a drone or bot will get out of the autonomous vehicles to do the final delivery. I can see moving forward where places will have drone/bot delivery slots for mail, packages and food deliveries.

    Brings back memories of hand writing proofs in Adv Calc and Analytical Calc, getting 6 pages in and finding a mistake. 199.99999 TB written by hand and finding a mistake = bad year :-)

    We should be teaching kids the very basics such as focus and concentration through meditation, then add on the ability to adapt and learn. We continue to try and "skate to where the puck is, instead of to where it's going to be" (stealing a line). And in order to go to where it's going to be we need a highly adaptable society with the ability to quickly learn as they may have have 4-6 careers in their lives.

    Along with those very basic also teach reading, writing, math, logic, problem solving, art, music and phy ed, then as they get older use personality, aptitude and interest tests to develop more specific skills.

    In 10-15 years coding "may" be a niche job as AI rises.

There are plenty of sites with no backup!

    If you look a true corporations and compare them based on size, most mid to large companies give their CEOs salary, bonus and stock. With stock usually increasing their pay by a multiple (ones I've looked at are 4-7x).

    I've heard from a number of older friends in Silicon Valley that once they pass 40 yrs old, they don't get callbacks for jobs.
    (Now, yes, some have outdated skills, but when someone in there 30s with those same skills is getting jobs, something is broke.)

    It appears companies are getting rid of higher paid worker and replacing with cheaper, younger works (sometimes overseas), to bring this into the light, all diversity reports from companies should include age of employees broken down.

    Slysoft should release a new version that has a plug-in architecture.
    - the new version (as sold) will only rip unprotected DVD/BDs
    - 3rd parties (cough, cough) can distribute plug-ins that have the decryption functionality

    Ideally those plug-ins will be open sourced and given freely on the web.

    If this holds up and there is no comeback, look for Netflix DVD and Redbox revenue to dry up faster.

    Let's face it streaming video is nice, but the studios frack it up with there contracts that cause content to disappear from Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. It is the absolute worst customer experience to add something to your watch list only to find it gone when you go back to watch it.

    There was a Russian scientist who claimed all cancers were caused by viruses, unfortunately I can't find the link on Ars and I'm lazy at this hour. But what if all cancers do come from a virus type that we don't have the ability to detect yet (and we aren't trying to)? It's fascinating to think about, but then look at AIDs, we've know the virus that causes it for decades and still can't cure it (although some will state it's a manageable illness now).
