As I have been dealing with this for about a year now (first it was just the passenger side ones) so I can maybe shed some light on this, by the way BMW has been out ahead of this for a while issuing a auto manufacture recall long before the mandated airbag manufacture one. The problem is made more likely if you are in high humidity areas as the housing around the airbags corrodes. When I last checked on availability for my car a couple of months ago, in Minnesota, I was told that the first customers who would be getting this addressed were in the south along the coasts where the problem was most likely. At that point BMW said it would be about 6 weeks before they actually had the parts in for those areas so I would imagine that this process has just recently started or will be starting shortly. People in other areas will be served later as there is less of a chance of the problem happening to the with the lower humidity.

In dealing with BMW over this issue I get the impression that Takata has been dragging ass on this. I received the BMW recall notice late last October and was told when I got the passenger side one done in late July that there was another recall coming for the driver side one. In both cases BMW issued their own recall months before airbag manufacturer did.

Living in Minnesota and not being a fan of either the Democrat or Republican party means that I can vote for a 3rd party and my vote still won't matter, just as if I voted for a Republican since barring some act of god this state won't go Republican in the presidential election.

  7. Personally I think all of the republican voters should just go out and in mass vote Sanders in the remaining primaries. Worse comes to worse it would be a Trump v Sanders election which would offer a real choice instead of the usual BS difference on wedge issues but willingness to work across the aisle to screw the regular person.

If you take some of the gen ed courses while enlisted they military will pay for those as well and it makes it easy to get done in plenty of time. As an added benefit they got an additional stipend while in school after their service. Some of them went to college right out of high school and then quit eventually signing up for various branches of the service, others went straight in, one even went in at 17 while still in high school (Minnesota national guard) and did basic between junior and senior year.

My beef with the ruling is that it contradicts itself. There were 3 parts, the first was to determine standing and that hinged on if the thing that you got if you didn't have insurance was a tax or a fine. The second part was about taking away medicare (or was it medicaid) money from the states. The 3rd part was if the things in the first ruling was and by extension the health insurance mandate was constitutional. On the first issue the court found that it was not a tax and by extension the plaintiffs had standing. On the second point they found that the government couldn't take that money away from the states. Finally on the 3rd issue Chief Justice Roberts had some tortured incoherent rambling but then says it is a tax and that makes it OK. So the way I look at this decision is that either we have entered time of quantum law which is unknowable, this is by far one of the worst rulings of all time since it contradicts itself, or the justices are so incompetent they overturned their own ruling from mere moments previous. Either way it should be a clear indication that all of the justices lack the mental facilities to make a rational and logical judgment and should be removed.

Personally even though I am in the same situation as you (nothing to hide from authorities) I would still tell them to piss off. I've done it to roaming TSA who asked if they could search my bag, I've done it to cops who have asked if they could search my car, I would do it to here as well. In the car incident they stuffed me in the back of the squad car and got a K-9 unit that happened to alert at the trunk, in the trunk they found my tool box, a couple quarts of oil, a set of spare belts (that fucking car threw belts all the time), a tire iron, spare tire and a jack, that was it. They dumped all of my tool out on the ground to "search" them so I got the joy of picking that mess up.

With the TSA agent they were kind enough to ask "Can I search your bag?" indicating that I had a choice and I responded with no. This horribly confuses them and resulted in re asking the question and getting the same response. The agent went and caller for their supervisor who also asked the same question and got the same response. The supervisor called his manager who then asked the same question and got the same answer. Eventually I was told by the highest person that they were going to be searching my bag. I responded that I do not consent to this search as it is a violation of my 4th amendment rights as they have neither probabal cause, reasonable suspicion, or a warrant as my person and effects were already screened while going through the security line. In the end they still did search my bag and found 2 changes of dirty cloths, a spare set of clean cloths, my work laptop, my phone, a note book, 2 pens, and my headphones. While in the end they still searched my bag I did waste over half an hour of each of their time which in my book is a net worth as was just waiting at the gate for my plane.

  22. But if the police have the drives they have the physical evidence. What they want is for you to provide information to them but that information my prove his guilt and would against hist 5th amendment rights. Also what I have long wondered is as a person under investigation does one have to assist the prosecution in interpreting data? In other cases it seems like it has been well established that one does not have to assist investigators so long as one doesn't interfere with actions they undertake. If police have a warrant to search my house I can't stop them from searching but I am under no obligation to help them find what they are looking for. Same thing with cracking a safe I can't stop them from drilling out the lock but I in no way have to help them drill it out. A password to an encrypted volume is very much like a combination to a safe, just a safe that can't be drilled out in this universe.

All of the major symmetric key crypto algorithms are just variations on the Feistel Network structure going back to the early 70s. Here is a paper I was reading just last night on the evaluation on all 16! 4x4bit s-boxes but most ciphers use 8x8-bit S-boxes. Likely it is both and there are very few terrorists in the US and those that are here and the ones who are here are only slightly smarter than a jar of mayonnaise from what gets reported. If I wanted to pull off a major terror attack the simplest one I could think of would be to go and get 20 of my terrorist buddies, and each go and make a couple of bombs from smokeless powder. One goes in one of those suitcases that everyone knows is to large to fit into the overhead bin but no one says anything to you about because you're a dick head. The other goes in a larger backpack. Then on some nice busy travel day you and your 20 terrorist buddies go to 20 different large airports and detonate your suitcase + backpack bombs in the middle of the security lines at the same time. The easy thing here is anyone can go get into the line and you don't even have to buy a ticket. If you pick the winter time you could also have a suicide vest on under a coat for a little added punch and no one would be the wiser.
