I'm already hearing people refer to these things as "Pads". The most important thing is that people understand what a Pad is. The individual device qualities and pricing will differentate themselves.
If the money isn't flowing, then the market isn't free. Any private entreprise, be it Google are whoever, that diverts money to itself is anti-free market.
We all learned early on that email addresses are only temporary. Anyone who expects that an ancient of numbers would lead them to the same person as they did years ago is a fool.
You should think a bit more about what the phrase "your own money" means before you get all up in arms. Free access to that which is yours is a right, not a convenience.
This really moves SpaceX up in my estimation as well. Until now, I pictured private space flight as focusing only on making profits, not sacrificing dollars in order to protect people around them. Maybe the privatization of space flight has a future after all!
Life is created under ideal conditions then it evolves to survive in harsh environments. Certainly I would prefer to believe that the opposite is true, but the evidence presented so far does not support that.
To be honest though, I've not seen a single thing on the internet that I would be willing to pay for just to see. Yeah, I know there are many who are...but I've never been able to get my head around the idea that subscription based sites are of any real value. Add to that already cynical view of paying for any information being a stupid propisition the thought of paying to hide thoughts that you find offensive then you've really entered negative territory for the cost of wasting time on trivial matters.
Those are the things Microsoft should be focusing on to best their competitors today. Who was it who said "Hit it where they ain't"? Willie Keller I think. Apple wants lockin, Google wants data, Microsoft only wanting to sell software could be the winning move today.
That is very well known, and they trade that payment for cash from advertisers.
Not necessarily, could be they don't want to have to bicker with a bunch of other nations over which experiments take priority.
It could also be that they have experiments they want to perform that wouldn't be allowed on the International Space Station.
Never heard anyone refer to one of those devices as a tablet.

...ever offering up better search results that didn't include Google results.
Then that is the fault of the senders not doing there due diligence. Even real physical address schemes get changed now and then to meet modern needs.

The only banks I deal with pay me to have access to my money, not the other way around.

The only fair price to enable spending your own money is zero.
Does this mean that Microsoft will assume responsibility for creating unresponsible persons?

Good on them for making the self-destruct such a high priority!
That is what Scottish independence would mean. But WTF, break what is left of the Kingdom up if you must.

Proving I'm human just subjects me to more ads I don't want to see.
Sure, and I'll bet there are many people who are willing to pay to not have their world views challenged too. I'm just not one of them.

...is nothing but a great waste of resources. If only all the energy devoted to such trivalities as sports were dedicated to science.
Intelligent people realize they are immature, and strive to gain more experience and insight before they act.
...before you are ready signifies immaturity, not intelligence.

Kids won't learn obedience if they are given free time to think for themselves.
