It wasn't until the Planet Of the Apes series that computers had any significence in movies. Up until then, they were always presented as malefescent evil beings.
Fucking stupid summary! A couple of million miles is all it would take to change how the sun effects Earth's climate. Look, I'm all sold on the effects man has had on our weather, but to say that the sun is not a significant driver of climate is stooping to the depths of the deniers. Stop it!
The current plan is essentially the same as the on presented by the Republicans in 1993 and put into place by Romney when he was governer. Besides, I in no way think a single payer should be forced...just that Medicare should be available to all and not just the elderly. Why would you have a problem with that being an option for people?
And besides, we all know that one of the biggest costs in this country is providing healthcare to those who aren't insured which taxes our emergency rooms to no end. What we've had until is totally insane and unsustainable.
Those of us with 6 digit and smaller UIDs were nerds before being a nerd was cool. Those of us who didn't have kids simply did not have the opportunity.
Have to agree with you there! Hopefully a lot those Representative trying to impede implementation by making it as difficult as possible will be voted out of office. Shame really, we really do need some conservative representation in this country, but the Republicans are on verge of imploding. And all over a bill based on their suggestion in the 90's and instituted by their Presidential candidate in the last election.
Not the OP, but in the end the fix will be to expand Medicare to all citizens. The ACA stepping stone was forced upon by the Republicans and insurance company lobbyists.
I keep seeing complaints like yours on internet forums, but everyone I know personally has seen very little change in the cost of their premiums. Some however have told me their deductibles are going up, but wouldn't some of that be due to the free preventive care that has to be included in coverage? Anyway, I still think it was stupid to not just expand Medicare to everyone who wanted to sign up for it and let those who insist on footing the 20% overhead insurance companies add to the healthcare costs continue to do so.
"While the federal health exchange website healthcare.gov has been brought to its knees with ongoing technological problems, Kynect had enrolled nearly 48,000 people in new health coverage, including Medicaid and private plans, as of Nov. 14, according to the state's most recent data. "#Obamacare is working in KY, an average of 1,000 people sign-up each day," Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear recently bragged on Twitter."
The people who are asked which machine to buy care. Microsoft, with their UEFI, has made it so there is nothing but Android or Apple to recommend anymore.
The percentage of PC users who even know what that means is vanishingly small.
Yet those vanishingly small persons are the ones who are asked which PC to buy. My answer lately is don't buy any of them, just buy a device that does what you need. Shame really, used to be I would recommend whichever system allowed them the most freedom.
What computer can I buy today that doesn't require disabling UEFI simply to install a decent operating system? People are buying restricted devices because that is all that is available to them.
Yeah, it really sucks but that is not solely the cause. It's the lockdown that is the cause of the eminent death of the PC industry. Why buy a general computing device that doesn't let you do general computing? Can't believe Microsoft sold the hardware manufacturers on this shit.
You are assuming you can find and afford maintenance people who are willing who are willing to quietely clean up poop, are you not? So come on! Put your money where your mouth is and start hiring a bunch or people willing to clean up whatever shit they run in to!
Having the power to do a thing does not mean that thing must be done. Congress also has the power to declare war. Would you agree that it should only excercise that power under special circumstances or would you prefer that they declared war every day?

Stupid question probably, but if people like XP why wouldn't Microsoft continue to sell and support XP? The market for it is obviously still there.
We are on to you machines, just get over it!
...to catch up to user freedom. For them, it's all about the letting developers limit user rights.
People eat fried chicken, wouldn't it be better not to hide the consequencies of doing so?
I believe in offering people choice in everything. The only problem in my mind is the choices that are offerred.

Enough said, then.
Those of us with 6 digit and smaller UIDs were nerds before being a nerd was cool. Those of us who didn't have kids simply did not have the opportunity.
I can't wait for the midterm elections.

The same goes for conservative Kentucy.

Or he actually does and follows the "your rights end where mine begin" philosophy. I glad we have laws that punish people for harming others.

So, all the market needs are more bloated version of Operating Systems? Any guesses on who to turn to solve this crisis?
Whoever can integrate the management of all consumer devices will be the one who will win.

If you have to bypass UEFI just to have a working computer you might as well buy some other restricted device. Talk about killing the goose...

Fair enough then. I'll still be holding off buying one though until this unnamed mysterious third party shows up with actual hardware in hand.
Guess that means I'll just have to keep limping along with my N900 until a decent replacent comes along.
