I can't imagine this OS has anything resembling libraries or runtimes on it...one of those cheapass modems you can telnet into will seem luxurious in comparison. How much need will there be for an OS like this in the future when you can already run a full desktop OS on a $25 single-board computer?
There's no way to initially cross an airgap with sound, you'd have to first infect the computer with the software needed to communicate with sound via some other means, and then you could use sound to establish a connection to a computer that's believed to be airgapped.
If technology like this is included with an OS by default, and it doesn't require user action to allow data to be received and approved before taking any action with it (I'm looking at you, phones with NFC), that could change.
If anyone thinks the FBI and NSA aren't monitoring in detail, they're a total moron. The FBI is known to monitor things much less criminal and obvious than this, and the NSA is watching by default even if they didn't mean to in the first place.
Sure, not all water-drinkers are murderers, but all murderers are water-drinkers. I recommend you stop drinking this awful poison that causes people to kill!
You assume that not being officially poor means you're doing OK - it doesn't. In fact, a single person can make as little as $11k per year, and a couple as little as $15k without being categorized as poor in the US:
That's not the kind of money that could make people think the Republicans might better serve their interests. And for the purpose of this argument (at least), it doesn't matter if poor Americans aren't starving like poor Chinese or Brazilians - they're not making good money:
Came here to say this, and you said it quite well. Millennials will never have the money to make voting Republican look like anything approaching a decent idea, so most are going to be Leftists 4 Lyfe. There's a downside to impoverishing a whole generation that the conservatives didn't see coming.
You should have tho grab the "restricts my rights" version if that makes you happy while everyone else gets DRM-free Firefox by default. Mozilla shouldn't be helping to spread DRM by default-installing it for everyone. Not having a DRM plugin installed makes me happy (especially since it could still turn out to be an exploit delivery engine).
A gay friend of mine gets way more interest from girls than I do - he says next time a girl tries to "turn" him, he'll tell her that I'm gay and she should try to "turn" me instead XD
I very rarely complain that a story doesn't belong on Slashdot, but this time I will, because this is probably the least Slashdot-worthy story I've seen yet.
You just said they're not legally admissible as evidence, the fact that the illegally gotten evidence could be legally gotten military intelligence is entirely irrelevant - the evidence is still just as illegal as if a cop had broken into a house and stolen it.
There are some really important differences between intelligence, and evidence. You shouldn't lump them in the same boat and expect the same standards for both, "because government".
AFAIK I should in fact lump them together because they are both legally considered "evidence", and this is why parallel construction is used to create a legally valid cover story or substitute for illegally obtained evidence, am I wrong?

Site's not coming up now...
Definitely gotta order me one of these, once I save up all that money.
Awesome sig/bumper sticker material here!

You're obviously doing quite well for yourself though, if you think this is a planning and budgeting problem.
I am not suggesting that the torrent traffic would go through the darknet
Why not? Torrent traffic is bad for Tor, but it works fine on I2P.
It sort of already is, so if the .se domain goes down:

You know it's bad when Bitcoin looks like a better alternative! O_O
Fellow citizens! Do your part, and make waste. Life is easier when you lighten the load.
Muahahaha, how quaint!
Which one is this? I don't see anything unusual in my addons or plugins list.

Good, let them think that, maybe they won't notice that all their DRMed goodies are available DRM-free on torrent sites!
Yep this should be an easy crack, with most of the source code being available. Firefox 38 will also be known as Netflix Video Ripper 1.0!
Still, it would've been better to leave the DRM where it belongs, in plugins to be installed by each user who wants to have their rights managed.
Oh, the fools! If only they'd built it with 2 layers of password spoofing! When will they learn!?!?

This is not news for nerds. This does not matter.

It was aliens having a global thermonuclear war.
AltSchool is clearly a working title, maybe they could call it Elysium High or The Eternal Gardens School.
"...the Earth has been warming since the end of the last Ice Age."
I should set a climate denialist's house on fire at midday and tell them that it's not my fault, it's been warming since sunrise!
