There's even a growing movement of text-and-drive danger denialism. They deny that texting while driving is dangerous and think that the push to stop it is some kind of conspiracy. It would be a beautiful thing if they were only putting themselves in danger.
Yeah, but in the overwhelming majority of instances where they are used for non-recreational purposes, cars act as safe, useful, non-criminal tools. You can't say the same about guns.
With this timing, I had to re-read the headline in my RSS reader 3 times to be sure it wasn't from The Onion. Apparently this isn't new information but it was the first I'd heard of it.
I was thinking the other day, the NRA is one of the most powerful lobbying groups, able to overpower 70%+ public consensus on issues and derail any effort by politicians. They get a lot of money from the gun industry, but their membership is less than 2% of US citizens. Don't you think it would be possible to get a lobbying group that is pro-civil-liberties, even if it has to be a little partisan (not cave to the anti-abortionists & prohibition crowd, and side with people over businesses), to have 10% of US citizens in its membership? Surely that would more than make up for the industry money. How powerful could THAT group be?
Well then we need to 3D print a lot more stuff. Maybe new plastic berry boxes? Maybe it could be molded instead. I wonder why the berry box manufacturers don't do it?
Giving little boys over to Afghan warlords to be raped is just the "way to get things get done over there" and should be an acceptable action to take, with US tax dollars no less? Well...shit man... <:-(
It certainly shouldn't be, but maybe it was acting as a hackish fix for a very flawed democracy and giving a better outcome than the system would have had without it. Now we have no way to address overwhelming public disapproval, especially in the face of limited alternatives (another big flaw in current democracies).
Once you travel to Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia or a few other such places for any reason, you immediately become one of the most suspicious people on the planet. Few things could raise a bigger red flag. The "terrorists" are probably just middle-easterners visiting their families on vacation.
I wonder if it had something to do with better security at public events and better investigative techniques. As recently as around WW1 it was common for unpopular politicians to be assassinated and the killer could get away with it without too much trouble. Over time it became harder to kill politicians and get away with it, until we're in today's situation where there are anti-sniper teams around these appearances, the buildings the politicians reside in are armored and it's practically impossible. They're safer from the angry masses than the 1700s French aristocracy could have ever dreamed of. They have nothing to fear.

Nothing can be done, no more trillions to blow or civil liberties to obliterate.

*to throw orphans. I accidentally the whole thing :-(
They'll have to orphans into the sump tank like in the old days!
(rather than just harvesting their tears and refining it into Greed Oil)
Quick, everybody spread rumors about shutdowns and buyouts, those Wall Street fatcats will shit their pants! >:D
Does this make anyone else happy for some reason?

You mean (meth)amphetamines? They do tend to help you lose weight...
I think the gynecomastia (growth of moobs) and testicular atrophy (tiny, shrivelled balls) should be highlighted.
THIS! XD

Only ABS or PLA plastic, cleaned and ground into small pieces.

Meh, they only hide things that would cause annoying and time-consuming public outrage. It's a convenience thing.
There's no such thing as absolute certainty in science.

He just values his privacy and liberty, quaint old concepts that had to be sacrificed for safety in our safer-than-ever world, I know.
NZ is still in my top 5 list of desirable locations but it's been accelerating down for a while now.

They're organizing...

I always answer that with "Yes, but not always a good reason."
