    If someone enjoys abusing children, and enjoys the idea, the hope is we can intervene and get this person help before they actually harm a child.

    I don't think anybody is really interested in helping these people. unless you consider 30 years of butt-rape helpful.

    That myth was born of the "reefer madness" campaign in the late nineteen thirties because rich industrialists saw hemp as a threat to petroleum, timber, and chemical industry profits. The Dupont brothers figured strongly is that misinformation campaign.

    when there's something on that I want to watch and I won't be home, I just program my vcr to record it. I call it me-vo.

    and doesn't it make more sense to only go back 2 weeks? that way you can set up your other self to take the fall while you get plastic surgery and mosey off with the cash.

    Someone should inform the telcos that they cannot offer this service anymore. Then the army of telco lawyers will kill the bill.

    It's doubtful that this law is going to be enforced, and especially not against the telcos. It's just one of those things that sound like a good idea to a bunch of 65 year old white guys who don't understand what's going on.

    no, the sky is not falling. states can pass as many dumb laws as they want, there's still higher courts that will listen and overturn the bad ones.

    I agree but you're completely missing the point, which is this:

    1) historically, human diet consisted of 80% meat and 20% fruits and veggies and zero grains.

    2) today human diet is generally around 50% grains. this is also recommended by usda. meat intake generally has dropped to around 10-20% with dairy taking up some of the slack

    3) our bodies may be fine-tuned to our earlier diet, but they are also fine-tuned to give out in about 30 years.

    4) you can't deny the evidence that a high-meat diet has negative health consequences.

    you could say that a paleontological diet is what we're supposed to be eating, but by the same logic, 30 years is the lifespan we're supposed to be living.

    if you're happy with that, then go for it. not many people are however. most experts agree that a varied diet is the way to go if you plan on sticking around.

    When you think about it, in the distant past we spent most of our day doing nothing but looking for food

    that's what you want to think because you would like to believe that technology makes life easier/better.

    the reality is that (depending on where you live) 10 men could go out every friday and take down a buffalo with some spears in about a half hour. that would feed the tribe for a week.

    the rest of the time was spent goofing off. no rent, no taxes, no hassle, no stress. you should be so lucky.

    I think the social stigma is much more serious.

    it's not really a stigma since we all do it, but having it called attention to like that is embarrassing.

    it's like when you're buying toilet paper at the supermarket and the cashier asks for a price check, suddenly your face goes red and you think 'oh great, now everyone's going to know that I take craps.'
