    Also, space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space.

    Yeah sounds like bs. I could understand him forgetting how to program the specific interfaces he automated because that's happened to me in the past normally because I abstracted the interfaces years ago and have my own wrappers to expose them to the proprietary systems I have to deal with. Now I have to go back and program the raw interface (Demonstrate my abilities at job interviews) and I'm like how does this shit work again. Actually I'd say this makes me a better programmer.

    I mistype passwords all the time due to manual dexterity issues (You try having a stroke) what they are suggesting sounds like a horrible cludge the only functionality I'd like is to be able to select a few of the characters in my masked password and be able to sneak a peek at just the selection.

    Similar here. Started on my brothers ZX Spectrum typing in games. Then at school writing simple programs (Animation etc) on Commodore Vic 20s & Pets. Then college where I programmed PC's & ICL Mini in various flavors of basic. From there I progressed on to COBOl, Dbase and various 4gl's and thence to C#, Java and Python. Am really enjoying Python :)

  16. The problem those passwords is the average user will probably have to write them down. If we want to have secure passwords the average user should be taught Mnemonic Memory techniques so that they can memorize 20 characters of random gibberish with the same confidence level as the name of their dog. As ever password security comes down to the donkeys that have to remember them.

    Yeah, honestly, the white-space is the only real issue with Python. That and that it is slow.

    Tabs & white space can cause an issue but it's just a habit problem. Slow? Hmmm it compiles to bytecode like Java & all the .net rubbish.
