Why not just shoot them? I can't imagine the croc being very happy about being dizzy all the time. More over how does this stop them from wondering in to town?

I don't see the need to mod this -1. I'm from Florida, and "Why not just shoot them?" was the first thing that popped into my head too until I realized that they were really talking about crocs and not alligators - which unfortunately most people don't realize are very different. There alligator population in Florida is in the millions, but there are only a few thousand crocs. Anyway, I thought it was a valid question that deserved a proper answer, not a "fuck you".

Are you trying to convince me that it's better to pay more taxes than invest in my 401K? I sure hope that's not where you're going with this. BTW, I'm not worried about my 401K right now - I've got 25 more years of investing to do there.

50% in taxes is about $60K to me. That sounds like extremely expensive heathcare. I already have healthcare for everyone in my household that costs me about $4500/yr. I prefer not to buy coverage for your family as well, which is what it sounds like you are proposing. No thanks, I'd rather keep the extra money and put it in my 401K like I do now.

As another American making >100K, I can also tell you that 50% taxes will destroy my household. My wife is TRYING to remain a stay-at-home mom for our 3 kids, but it's getting to be increasingly difficult to maintain that goal that we set for ourselves when we got married. BTW, we don't live in a huge house in a huge neighborhood, drive new cars, and we do not have a credit card aside from my American Express. We save-to-buy and while it's difficult, it's also rewarding that we're not part of the problem in our country's economy. If I had to pay 50% in taxes, that would not be the case. My point is that by letting me keep my money, I'm better able to take care of my household.

The point I was making was not about the speed of their response, but rather about Apple's reaction - which is censoring posts and trying to sweep the bad press under the rug. They're more interested in trying to maintain an image than disclosing the issue, which is what everyone else in the OS market does. I don't recall MS or any of the *nix flavors ever *actively* trying to prevent news of an expliot from getting out.

Yeah, if you are looking for something to finally replace BF2 (like I was to a degree), you'll be really disappointed here. For all of it's warts, BF2 is mechanically (certainly not graphically) a much better multiplayer FPS game. But then again, it was coded from the ground up to be a multiplayer game. CoD4 seems to me to be primarily a singleplayer game with the multiplayer mode being a poorly thought-out last minute add-on.

Furthermore, I will not be surprised if we find out that
    a) Valve us suing Infinity Ward for copyright infringement, or
    b) Valve licensed the source code to Infinity Ward for the multiplayer implementation of CoD4.

  16. Re:Multiplayer? on Call of Duty 4 Review · · Score: 2, Interesting

Here's my take on multiplayer... I was expecting a lot and got very little. I thought the multiplayer was absolutely horrible as far as gameplay went. Visually it's great... but it's Counterstrike. If you were to blindfold me and sit me in front of a PC running it, my first impression would've been that this was a CS:S mod. The points system is totally bolted on - points are stored locally, not on a server. So if I play from my laptop or from my desktop with the same account, my points will be different. Now all that alone isn't the end of the world. The worst thing about it was that there is no way to form distinguishable squads. The action is so chaotic - which sometimes is a good thing but it's like that on ALL maps - that if you're trying to play with friends on teamspeak, it's virtually impossible to keep track of them, where they are, what they're doing, etc. If I could just make them a different color in the minimap, I'd be happy. My final gripe is the balance of the game. The weapon unlocks give the guys that play seven hours a day SO much more of an advantage that it's ridiculous. If you're on a map with an M16 - or even the M4 or MP5, and the rest of the guys on the map have P90's, you might as well leave the server because your killeath ratio is going to end up being around 1:10. I hate to be a stick in the mud since it seems slashdot is having a big ol' CoD4 love-in here, but I feel like I wasted my $50 on a single player game that lasts 6 hours, and a multiplayer game that's unoriginal and unbalanced. If you're looking for a new multiplayer fps, don't throw your money away on CoD4. But hey... it IS pretty, you can't argue with that.
