If you don't like XM then get rid of it or tell them to make it better. Or change the channel, there are a lot of them after all. Certainly a wider range than you get on most cities terrestrial stations.
GOOD. Let them take aim at the terrestrial market. It could only improve things!
ClearChannel, Cumulus Media, Citadel Broadcasting and Infinity (CBS Radio) own most of the stations nationwide, in that order. Most of them repeat the same crap anyway and any local flavor has long since disappeared. Maybe if they started getting worried that they might have to WORK for their money the quality of local broadcasting might improve.
Isn't that what Republicans call that "letting the free market work it out"?
BTW, the issue with car radio receivers going to satellite only is between YOU and the CAR COMPANY. If you don't want that to happen then take it up with them.
You joke but there is something to this. I'll bet the energy cost to power and cool a datacenter in Chicago is much lower than anywhere in CA. Sinking into the ocean notwithstanding...
Flash BIOS didn't exist over 15 years ago (pre-1993), at least in PCs. It wasn't even commercially available until 1988 and then it was hugely expensive, not something you'd find on a PC motherboard. It wasn't until around post-1995/96 or so that it started being somewhat common.
I think you are thinking of a virus called CIH btw. It was pretty nasty as I recall.
What I fear is that Psystar will force Apple to do something rash like product activation on OS X. I really, really can't stand that but I can see this being a rationalization for doing so...
Exactly. I hate to be petty but I have to say that I'd chuckle if this album tanked. I wouldn't even be surprised if someone organized a boycott just in spite of their previous actions. It would seem only fitting but that's just my opinion.
I'm not entirely sure we used to relish competition. Look at Preston Tucker and his 1948 Tucker Torpedo. The Big 3 American auto companies used all sorts of dirty shenanigans to put him out of business. In the end they each took a piece of the pie as their own through ownership of his patents.
He's not the only one by far. The American trolly system was destroyed by the auto industry too (replacing them with buses). Looking back further Edison didn't much like competition either. Farther back the railroad companies didn't take kindly to folks messing around with their business...
America likes competition when it serves a political statement that looks better on propaganda posters (WW2 posters come to mind) than rings true in real life. Corporations don't much care for competition. It gets in the way of money.
I just love this when someone provides a graph without even a detailed scale! Firefox is one snozzle less on the Kaznuk Chart than IE or Opera for every flibbet tested. Hope this helps.
I enjoyed jury duty too. My case was a strange one involving an arson. Almost everyone involved had a history of something and it was really difficult to judge who was telling the truth. Mine took nearly two weeks but I was really happy with the outcome especially because we truly thought every point through. I think we all felt good about it because in the end we would hope someone would spend the same effort on us if we were in the same situation. I took a pay loss because of it but it was a good experience to go through all the same as it made me appreciate why the system is the way it is.
Yeah it's just as accessible and welcoming of an environment as China.
Agreed. This is called being a dick. Don't be a dick, assholes.

2. The actual filing date of the lawsuit was July 3rd, and the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field is strong, but it does not enable time travel.
From your perspective of the timeline no, not yet.
Well I guess they've got to get people to move to Vista somehow... Too bad for Microsoft it doesn't exactly sell itself.
I've seen pictures of them but thought they were a myth. Too bad most people won't have ever heard of them before they've disappeared.
You forgot the most important feature. You know, the one about boiling the oceans of the world...
btw, anyone know where katz is these days?
Yes but only if you want to see the sharks in wireframe models. Otherwise you'll have to use a Cray to do those calculations in 3D.

Who cares about Linux... Considering the licensing issues...
When does OS X get boot support (it already has ZFS support just not via the GUI)?
Only suckers buy two of these machines.

If nerf guns are banned for humans then only the zombies will have guns. Oh the humanity.
The funny thing is that apparently not even Apple's lawyers read EULA's...
Wanna know why? Clear Channel. They own the FCC.
A good Ars article on the subject:

Consider that all theatres have some overscan on the black crops when projected. You'll never notice a few pixels gone.
