People who take them say the drugs aren't giving them an unfair advantage but merely allow them to make the most of their hard-earned skills.
That sounds like what I used to say when I was dropping lots of acid and eating oodles of mushrooms in the '80s! Worked for me and never affect me in any way... gotta run, the xmas tree is breathing again.
I love using Macs, but for servers, embedded systems, and field equipment, it would seem that Linux or BSD would be the better choice for the military.
MacOSX has chewy unix underpinnings, why would it not be a good choice?
At my workplace Matlab pretty much owns the place. They've gotten to be dicks about licensing though. If we want to install a 10 seat license on a Linux server they want NAMES to be associated with the licenses even though a lot of our workforce is semi-transient (common in new research grads). They won't let us have an X seat license with no names attached for a reasonable price. About 9 times the price for a license. Excuse me? The same number of users will be able to use it simultaneously!
In the new versions Mathworks is going to be having online verification for your Matlab licenses. That's right, if you thought FlexLM was a piece of fucking shit, now you have to verify against a master database.
They've become money grubbing arses. With diminishing budgets I really want to try pushing Sage in our place.
Have you tried System Shock 2? It's a bit old but you can find high def texture packs online which update the graphics quite nicely. It's a great game.

All are great points!
In reference to your first re: character abilities... I've played System Shock 2 through several times while trying different strategies each time. The last time I decided to go for "pure" PSI. I made it through the game with whatever weapons I was able to use without improvements (mainly the wrench and pistol) and worked on developing the PSI abilities. Early on it was hard but once I got the hang of remote hacking turrets and using brains rather than brawn it was a great round.
I played through Bioshock and I was at the "shit, just hurry up and finish this thing"-level of boredom. I'll probably never play through Bioshock again but SS2 is calling me once again... (that and Thief fan missions!)
Spending billions of dollars NOW, to learn how humans are affected in space, when we don't use manned space travel, is not a practical use of money.
That's a chicken and egg problem.
The alternative is to not test how humans are affected and send them up blindly when we do use manned space travel. Granted they'll generate lots of data but I wouldn't want to be one of those subjects.
Remember kids: it's very important to be a selfish, slovenly pig. When you get 'caught' doing something everyone else does, just pay a small fine and go back to wallowing in your own filth.
I'm in Canada. I don't need to pay a fine before wallowing in my own filth!
I'm not sure that it's my type of music (will listen tomorrow) but I'll help with your efforts by downloading and seeding your
32 MB, 192 Kbit MP3 version.
Come on/.ers, put your bandwidth where your mouth is.
Maybe, I don't know how that would play out. 100 songs would be $99. The RIAA asking for $74,901 to cover legal fees would get most sane people (even judges!:)) raising an eyebrow.
I've always been amazed by the gall they have quoting that number. What other type of copyright infringement can claim 757.6 times the value of the product as damages? When the SPA goes after companies using pirated commercial software they don't look at an old copy of Windows 98 and try claiming $8000 as damages, do they?
Ohh... I really did like Framework. We used that along with dbase III at a few workplaces back them. The two worked together nicely (for the time anyhow)
After Empire Strikes Back. After Lucas' fucked with Greedo and Han. After "This new release on super-mega DVDHD-BluRay-VHS-Beta-Widescreen is my true vision!" was sold to the fans however many times over the years.

HA! Liar! They haven't made good, clean acid since the 60s.
Having never done it in the '60s I wouldn't know. Most of the blotter we got in the '80s was certainly fun, microdot crap would just rot your guts.

How will they know if the user prefers a Mac or PC with their "Don't ask, don't tell" policy?

I'm so disappointed. I thought this was going to be about makeovers...
Sounds like you may be in the market for a Mac.

Make it part of the vernacular, no amount of advertising $ can beat that.
After watching violent movies I beat my wife much worse than usual.

I don't think they can add in legal costs before the fact. They can ask for it to be rewarded though, no?

OF course not, all the answers are in the Bible! God has always existed! It's a test of faith, etc. etc. ad nauseam

Nah, if you were, you'd spell atheist correctly. I'll wager you're a religious nutbar trying to toss doubt into science.
