Werner Erhart was a Scientologist many years ago. He left to start EST which he later sold to his brother(?) and was re-branded "Landmark Education" or "The Landmark Forum". There's a really good expose by TV channel from France floating around with English subs hardcoded in. They snuck a camera into a Forum and taped a Forum for a weekend. In the video you'll see the Forum Leader insulting attendants ("You're an asshole") and other goofy things.
Landmark took the Scientology route and started threatening YouTube and others for, if memory serves, copyright infringement. The video is still out there, check out this link on Pirate Bay. It's a pretty amazing video.
Any organization selling "Feel Good" and supernatural crap is a cult. Their beliefs have no basis in reality and depend on the brainwashing of the followers to continue. Religions fit that bill perfectly.
Any "Church" that charges for its teachings and also has them copyrighted to prevent free distribution is not a church it's a scam at best and a dangerous cult at worst
cult (n): A small, unpopular religion. religion (n): a large, popular cult.

Even low end camcorders have some kind of picture stability on them
The trick is to have more renegade points by that point
Ah, good to know. I had lots of renegade points as I was playing like Dirty Harry. Killed everyone I could, got that junkie his drugs, backed the racist "Earth Party" or whatever they're called, asked for a threesome with Liara and Ashley first time through ("In your dreams, Commander!" -Ashley) etc.
It's great to have a game in which I can be a bigger asshole than I am in real life.
When you get your initial reward after finishing her mission it's just some new-age touchy-feely speech. One of the replies is something to the effect of "That's it?!" Choose that and it's SEX WITH A BLUE CHICK!!!!111````
Had to play it through twice for it. 2x by the consort on Citadel then once each by Ashley and Liara. Doing the blue chick made me feel cool like Captain Kirk.
But the point of a free market for just about anything is that people with different needs can find (or create!) different solutions.
I wasn't aware science and the scientific method bent to the whims of the free market. A science classroom should teach science, it shouldn't matter where it is. If the bible thumpers want their kids to wallow in ignorance they can send them to a private religious school for indoctrination into their cult.
but that these were engulfed when the stars expanded. This caused matter to be ejected from the stars, forming a disc of dust and gas from which planets could form anew.
I'm going to quit recycling, in a few billion years Sol will do it for me.
not all information can be linked, buddy. Like, experiential stuff.
The anti-vaccine crowd claims evidence of a link. That should be available online if it's legit. Through work I have access to countless online scientific and research journals yet a quick search shows nothing linking Thimerosal and autism.
As to "experimental stuff"... Do the anti-vaccine people have a secret experimental lab where they generate all this information for release to their own? Why not release it to the world and really prove their case. Even if their experimental data is flawed, some other researchers may take the ball and run with it.
It's a bit like homeopathy in reverse. Many of these guys have a superstitious fear of "toxins," and no matter how low the level might be, they will be convinced that it is poisoning their kids.
Well said. Unfortunately I used my last mod points earlier.
these folks are having to deal with enormous life changes for both their child and themselves.
I'm a parent and we get all the recommended shots for our daughter. She hasn't reverted back to a stage where she knows every postal code for every hamlet in Canada or whether a number is prime by looking at it. There's more weight to the idea that excessive TV is causing problems rather than vaccines. Maybe parents who use the TV as a babysitter and end up with an autistic kid don't like seeing the blame in the mirror, it's easier to blame a shot from 6 months ago.
You just know this must be related to the story IT: You Used Perl to Write WHAT?! from earlier this morning...
"Cult" is far easier to say than "bait-and-switch church," so why not allow for some formal distinction?
Because there is no difference. Brainwashing is brainwashing whether it's believing in the eerie powers of Xenu or Jesus.
I can see thousand of people trying to make numeric directories
I just mkdir'd a numeric directory then remembered I run OpenBSD on my net-facing servers.

So I should wait for a CAM to be released?

... can it predict how a crowd in Times Square will flee from the goatse guy being displayed on the jumbotron?
the convergence between professional and amateur cannot come too soon for me.
Lucas accomplished that several years ago with his 3 Star Wars prequels.
Glad to hear it's on FreeBSD, even if it's a little shaky at the moment. I'm waiting patiently for them to move it to the FreeBSD-based FreeNAS

Huckabee is a former Baptist minister. Another delusional kook trying to turn the US into a theocracy. He really believes in that shit.
Also note that people with penises fared better than those without. Ergo, having a penis makes you a winner!
