    Most of us who were using the internet before spam filtering became so common have not seen what today's volume of spam would look like unfiltered.

    So much of it happens server side the end users would have no idea as to the amount. My home mail server which handles a handful of users gives me these stats. and this is just for the 8.5 hours of "Today":
    (spamhaus) Listed at Spamhaus: 655
    (sorbs.net) Listed at dnsbl.sorbs.net: 146
    So that's just over 800 pieces of crap for today (so far) Those are server-side filters, not client side.

    Here in Manitoba we have a HUGE hydro-electric grid. Over 100,000 lakes and some of the dirt-cheapest electricity around. With none of the nuclear waste to worry about.

    Most current "they can co-exist" groups are usually (always?) religious in nature. They see what science has done but aren't grown up enough to let go of their fairy tales. So they monkey about with the two until they seem to fit. I don't see a lot of scientists blathering on about co-existence.

    Religion is a dead-end.

    other Linux companies such as Redhat and Suse etc, they are as much partners as they are competitors. Destroying the companies which make the software you make money providing support and services for would not be a smart move.

    True enough, but recall that it was SCO which instigated this lawsuit, not IBM. IBM is just swatting an annoying mosquito by killing SCO.

    Just because it's not the techiest, or generally lowest-cost, or whatever, doesn't disqualify it from being a solution. It solved his problem. Therefore, by definition it is a solution.

    It's not a solution, the problem still exists on the computer. It's a pretty dumb way of dealing with a problem. What's he going to do if his car starts to stall once in a while, buy a new car?
