Most of us who were using the internet before spam filtering became so common have not seen what today's volume of spam would look like unfiltered.
So much of it happens server side the end users would have no idea as to the amount. My home mail server which handles a handful of users gives me these stats. and this is just for the 8.5 hours of "Today":
(spamhaus) Listed at Spamhaus: 655 (sorbs.net) Listed at dnsbl.sorbs.net: 146
So that's just over 800 pieces of crap for today (so far)
Those are server-side filters, not client side.
Here in Manitoba we have a HUGE hydro-electric grid. Over 100,000 lakes and some of the dirt-cheapest electricity around. With none of the nuclear waste to worry about.
It seems like they feel the need to compete with everyone after they've brought an interesting product to market and they decide they can make some money there.
They're just spreading out their bets ala "throw enough shit against the wall and some of it will stick."
Many (most?) juristictions have laws about the number of vehicles parked on a residential property, grass cutting, etc. Homeowner Associations are bullshit.
There's evidence for a supreme being? Please notify The Institute for Creation Research, they've been trying to find evidence for ages. I can't wait to read their first publication in a peer reviewed journal.
Most current "they can co-exist" groups are usually (always?) religious in nature. They see what science has done but aren't grown up enough to let go of their fairy tales. So they monkey about with the two until they seem to fit. I don't see a lot of scientists blathering on about co-existence.
ie.: Manhunt
taught me that sneaking up behind an enemy, surprising him with a chokehold
then ramming long shards of glass in his eyes works very well.
That knowledge has helped me a lot in recent months.
other Linux companies such as Redhat and Suse etc, they are as much partners as they are competitors. Destroying the companies which make the software you make money providing support and services for would not be a smart move.
True enough, but recall that it was SCO which instigated this lawsuit, not IBM. IBM is just swatting an annoying mosquito by killing SCO.
Consumers should lose a lot of faith in MS' DRM and proprietary formats when Allard says '[...] the most popular formats out there, whether it's MPEG-4 or H.264, we'll support those.'
Just because it's not the techiest, or generally lowest-cost, or whatever, doesn't disqualify it from being a solution. It solved his problem. Therefore, by definition it is a solution.
It's not a solution, the problem still exists on the computer. It's a pretty dumb way of dealing with a problem. What's he going to do if his car starts to stall once in a while, buy a new car?

Heat pumps can be effectively more then 100% efficient
Perpetual motion machine anyone?
Oh, so you're just stupid then. OS X is the second-best OS on the planet (behind Linux)
s/Linux/OpenBSD/g you stupid cunt.
Bahahaah! Too bad I haven't had mod points in 4+ years....
You realize that somebody is bound to write a word processor that runs on a GPU now, just to prove it can be done?
Unfortunately the PHBs won't allow the company to run this. It isn't from Dell and won't open the latest PPT exploit.
Man, imagine how simple-minded and yet weak superhuman an AI that ran solely on GPUs would be?
It'd be incredible eye candy but retarded as fuck. Yes, your GPU can give you a SimStripper.

This will open up the way for Norton MySpace Security Only $29.95 a year!

Religion is a dead-end.
It isn't much of a debate when one side has no proof of their assertion.
Science++, Superstition--

+5, Informative.
Thanks!
Not a problem: Diebold will get into the pre-checked ballot printing business.
Wow... tell me again why I should install Vista?
You and I won't have to, the millions of sheeple buying new PCs from Dell, Best Buy, etc. will gladly take it up the ass and ask for more.

Mailing Daddypants is pointless, I've given up.

Like a shit with a Canadian $5 bill smushed in the middle. Appropriate.
...but it seems funny that someone signing himself as Simon P. Chappell would worry about "protect[ing] the pretentious".
