What's wrong with our school system that so many kids prefer working 40 hours a week instead?
You mean "What's wrong with our school system that so many kids prefer working 40 hours a week for wages that look nice when you're 18 but are shit when you're 40 instead?
Linux has a lot of mindshare, even among the non-techs. *BSD on the other hand is still pretty much in the techie realm. (that from a die-hard OpenBSDer:( )
Unlike with Windows, I doubt Microsoft could pull it off though... the Linux advocates are too anti-Redmond to adopt a M$ linux clone.
The advocates (zealots?) wouldn't be the target market. MS would market it to the MCSEs and other who are MS-centric as 'Linux Done Right', offer full MS support, ease of installation and a sole-source supplier (MS themselves).
Not to be a dick, but if the poster has to Ask Slashdot about this sort of configuration, he or she has no business messing with this and should leave the design and configuration to grown ups (unless it's a lab experiment or something).
You're being a dick, but the truth can be dicky.:)
The cultish Scientology/EST offshoot known as The Landmark Forum
has claimed copyright infringement against Google and YouTube. The EFF has extensive
details and are trying to squash that case.
Background:
In 2004 a French TV channel had someone with a hidden camera go to a
Landmark Forum indoctrination weekend. The expose was shown to 1.5 million
viewers. Soon after the broadcast, Landmark left France. A similar situation
occured in Sweden a few years before.
In any
event, fire up BitTorrent and get the French video with English subtitles at
Pirate Bay and a Swedish expose on Landmark, sans subtitles at the
moment,
at this link.
You will definately want to see these in case
one of your family members or friends starts to push you to take a weekend course
"that will create new possibilities"...
The Shalebridge Cradle [PDF] level of Thief:Deadly Shadows was an awesome level. Scary as hell and full of stifling atmosphere. I have a save-game at the very beginning of the level for those times I feel like reliving something truly creepy.
You're welcome.:) I'm seeding that torrent, if anyone can keep sharing after they snag it I'd appreciate it. I'm filling my outgoing bandwidth to (at the moment) 28 peers. Hot video!
Comedy Central's clips are a start. A more serious matter is the misuse of the
DMCA in efforts to stifle criticism.
An offshoot of the Scientology cult known as The Landmark Forum is
using the DMCA against YouTube, Google and The Internet Archive because of a
scathing French documentary about Landmark being shared on those sites. It aired in
France to 1.5 million people, a month later Landmark pulled out of France. Story at
the EFF's site and other news
sources.
Actually we have two:) A Philips DVP-642 and a newer Panasonic S52 (upconverts to 720p, 1080i). The Philips is nice but stutters on some busy screens (helicopter blades, water waves, etc). The Panasonic is very nice but doesn't play mpeg files off the disc or PAL. Also have had issues with subtitles.
I have a few CD-RWs and DVD-RWs that are used all the time for screeners that we watch in our divx DVD player. No point in wasting a good disc on that.

It would make MS billions of dollars.

Forget your hackish idea. Get a Cisco 3750-48 style switch and all will be well.
Arrrgh... thanks

Landmark has no valid copyright in either case but, having learned a lesson from Scientology, are now resorting to intimidation and abuse of the DMCA and court system.

That was my /. sig for a loooong time :) It almost looks like you cut and pasted it!
You're welcome.
Werner Erhard, the man who started EST which became Landmark, was a high level Scientologist. There is a definate link.

Why do scientists have to ruin everything, can't they just relax and laugh at SIDS like everybody else?
Damn I'm going to burn for that.
Actually we have two
Unlikely. The lasers are low power and don't run continuously. Otherwise they're pretty standard drives.

The BSD Daemon is known as...[drum roll] BSD Daemon, not "Chuck".
The Canadians have internet?
Yes, we do, but we have to fill the tubes with antifreeze.

Q: Why was Michael Jackson kicked out of the Boy Scouts?
A: He was going through a pack a day.
There's a National Geographic special called China's Lost Girls which talks about this very subject. Available on finer TV torrent sites.
I don't play Quake on my firewall & workstations but goatse is as colourful as ever.
Thank you for not using "pwned" in this headline.
You beat me to it. This is now 2 (or 3?) exploits thanks to binary blobs that OpenBSD is immune to.
