I live on a farm and I am surrounded by farms. Some people will push the soil and add a lot of different fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides to be able to produce as much corn as they can. Ever more now because companies producing ethanol are going around and offering more for the corn than selling it for food.

Great so we will use our already short supply of corn to create ethanol. So we have green cars but half of the world will starve to death.

You could be right and I did misunderstand In my experience as a web app developer this type of framework is not just as set of APIs but in fact a set of abstract classes that inevitably require some code generation to do what you want it to do. Granted I am not a Mac person and have not used Cocoa so it very possible that I missed the mark but I just wanted to explain where I was coming from.

  12. But what will the code look like? on Apple's SproutCore, OSS Javascript-Based Web Apps · · Score: 4, Insightful

That's my question. I have seen too many apps that "help" you create websites but the code it generates is a mess. And if you want to integrate it with another app forget it.
For example where I work we were building a B2C app and instead of wasting coder time building the bla bla stuff around the real working site. They used go live and in the end we had to re-do it all.

What I am looking for in a calender system (open or not) is to have multiple calenders (i.e one for each person on my team) and be able to have a combined view. For example each person has their own calender where they enter vacation days, project milestones , and the like. So as a manager I can have an overview of when my team members will be gone and see if they overlap. Also have an over all view of workload and possible problem spots. I have tried a few options but never found one that worked for me.

  15. Unknow Sputnik History on From Sputnik to the WWW, a History of ARPA · · Score: 1

Here is a little know story about Sputnik. My father grow up in a small town called North Hatly located in south eastern Quebec Canada. One night when Sputnik was in orbit him and his buddy found an old box of Russian flares from world war two and the gun to launch them. They were board and decided to ride around the town and launch them from the car. Because the flares were old they did not reach the full height and were still burning when they hit the ground. After about an hour they had fired most of them off and deiced to go home. One of the flares had landed in a farmer's field and burned a circle of about 10 -15 feet. The farmer say it land and panicked. He called the police and told them that Sputnik had landed in his field. The local police arrived and tapped off the area and called of a specialist from the RCMP. The next morning when my dad woke up and hear the news he knew it was him and his buddy and told his father the story. My grandfather was furious and made my dad explain the story to the mayor. When my dad had finished explaining the mayor started to laugh and a few minutes later after he re-gained control he told my dad to swear to never tell this story to anyone because this was the most attention the town had gotten in years. So there you go a little history that not many people know about. If you Google it you might be able to find the newspaper article about it. There were two one when it first happened and another to explain that it was a hoax by unknown people.
