    Awful? It is/was relatively cheap way to control lights. Heck, I should probably find my modules so I can turn on/off my bedroom lights remotely that way.

    I thought some of the TV stuff at least had potential.. Even if only to remove the need to switch/have inputs on the TV. In other words, have the other video source daisy-chain through the Xbox.

    (I switch inputs on my TV all the time, so obviously know how to do it.. It does suck that nowadays it's much slower than switching inputs on analog TVs.. but really, I wish I could have all devices plugged in and essentially instantly switch between which one I am seeing by using it.. Yes, I know about HDMI CEC. That's not instant either.)

    Could you clarify what you're referring to about Segway? I admit I didn't do tons of research, but I'm not even sure if you mean Segway stole someone else'e patent, vice versa, or something completely different.. If it was something like that, I would have expected at least some mention on the Segway wikipedia page.

    If passenger trucks were held to the same standard there wouldn't be a single redneck "rollin' coal" out there.

    That would be a good thing. Just like people driving SUVs who have no need to, tons of people are driving gigantic trucks who have no need to.

    I am not saying they shouldn't be able to, they should just pay more (for more road wear, more pollution, etc.,) and be held to the same standards as cars.

    I would say consumption taxes are the BEST form. If you want to squirrel all of your money away in your mattress, fine, you pay no taxes..

    Once you buy things, or use roads, etc., then you pay for their upkeep.

    $1000/month is not enough to retire. $10K/month is WAY more than enough. I'd quit in a second -- or at LEAST trim my hours way down... and that idea of keeping working is NOT part of your "want more" thing, it'd just be a way to keep "playing with computers" and products prior to release.

    It wasn't "bold easy to read type", but it WAS on the outside of the envelope (though the front I think), even easily visible in the pictures from TV screens.

    So I think after Warren realized something was wrong, he had looked at both sides of the red envelope, he would have seen "Best Actress" on it.

    BTW, in the discussion afterwards, I did see a clip of Sammy Davis, Jr., being given the wrong card once too -- it was from an earlier category.. (Then he made a joke about the NAACP hearing about this.)

    They are if it's way cheaper, and fits the specific user's needs. Some people don't need blazing fast speed.

    While not exactly the same, you do have _some_ competition.. cable & satellite services & U-Verse & for some, streaming systems or even 'just' OTA.

    (Personally, while sure, I would always want it cheaper, cable is the one thing that everyone _else_ complains about the price of, that I think I get more entertainment than I can watch for a decent price.. of course, I tivo everything and skip the ads.)

    Just put a couple drops of water in.. You can put JUST enough water in to make it come out without making it way too watery..

    (As opposed to shampoo, which I think you could water down about 10x and it would still work just as well, from how long the last little bit ends up lasting after adding a bunch of water to it..)

    Also, selling self driving cars to people is the end game. Getting them on the road as taxis is a stepping point to get public trust.

    I think you have this backwards. I admit I'm only one data point. BTW, I have never used Uber/Lyft, and have only been in a taxi once in my life AFAIK (maybe I was when I was too young to remember).

    I will gladly give up my car if/when I can get cheap driverless Uber.. i.e. point to point transportation NOW (or very very close to it).

    If the cost over a year is less than that of owning a car, great.

    I don't think they're made it clear.. but even if to license to other companies, the premise is that there was brain drain to other companies before it was finished.

    Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.. I only read the summary, and knew about the Mythbusters episode.

    I really wonder if the results would be different in areas with protected left turns (that's what they're called). I would not like to live somewhere with significant traffic that didn't have protected left turns. I rarely make a left when it's not a protected left turn, and even when I do, it's usually a mid-block turn and I can see that there's only a car or two to wait for at most before I can turn. (I'd rather have the somewhat predictable "wait for the lights to cycle" than an indeterminate wait for a break in the flow..)

    Umm, 2 years of 70-80 hours a week of use.. That's a lot (and I say that as a big TV watcher).

    So think of it as many more years for a "regular" TV watcher.
