I'll give them credit that they at least did have a legend. Most simulation graphics for PR aren't even that helpful. In this case my main complaint is that they show a 2D slice of what looks like projected velocity vectors colored by velocity magnitude but this is obviuosly a 3D problem so, while it's a start, there's nothing there to tell you how much heat the air picked up or how much recirculation is going on.... etc.

I've been thinking about RAID in my home box lately too. I like spending more for a nice system but not to the extreme 'god box' levels that some do. For example, I went with a dual athlon 2000 setup recently for only about $800 (mb+2cpu+mem+ps) but while I'm very happy with this setup I feel like I've shorted myself on the hard drive setup.

The plan I've been mulling about is to have SATA RAID 0 with two 60 Gig drives and then a 120 Gig drive that I rsync up with nightly so that I have a relatively easy way of recovering things if they fail. This is quite a bit more money than the single drive I have now but it seams reasonable compared to going SCSI or 10Krpm or a 4 drive setup with a card that can handle it.

Like I said, I'm just mulling it over and this is the perfect place to put it out for comment so... what do you think? Has anybody else tried this and been happy with the results?

I do have a sense of humor but I don't like to have to turn my brain completely off in order to exersize it. 22. Lever analogy flaw? on Platform Evangelism · · Score: 2, Insightful
Is it just me or is this analogy fundamentally flawed if you actually know the physics? Yes, a lever makes it take less force to move a given mass but it still takes the same amount of effort for that mass to obtain a given momentum.

In physics, a lever rotating around a fulcrum magnifies the force applied. Therefore, before starting to push his technology, the wise evangelist looks for leverage.

In technical evangelism, the mass being accelerated is platform support. Levers are people, companies, products, or channels of communication that allow you to accelerate the mass of support with less effort. Any effort you save working one lever, can be invested in working another. âoeLeverageâ is one of the key concepts of technical evangelism.
