it's swiss (often called swiss german), which had, some hundred years ago, the same roots as ("normal") german. there are no grammar rules btw, which makes it a REALLY great language:)
i've been using an athlon (slot a) cpu for more than a year now, with all 2.4 kernels (except for the REALLY broken ones) and i haven't had any such problem at all. i used matrox agp cards (g400 and g550), so shouldn't it crash here too? quake3, castle wolfenstein and a lot of other opengl apps work perfectly well.
which part am i missing? is this problem somehow nvidia-related after all?
So is the U.S. government. I mean, remember Iraq, Vietman, Pakistan, Afghanistan etc.? "That's not the same!" you say? It IS! The U.S. want those parts of the world to be "free" (as in "the way WE like it"), China wants Tibet to be the way China likes it. Besides, of course the chinese govt. enforces the Communist lifestyle, which is about the same the u.s. does. Could you imagine people in the U.S. saying "hey, we're communists. we won't adapt to your lifestyle. we just take what we want, because everything belongs to everybody" - governments HAVE to enforce their system.
I don't say the Chinese (or communist) way is good, i just don't think you can blame them for doing the same things the U.S. do, if you don't blame them as well...
1) not everybody who lives in the u.s. is a good guy while the rest of the world is full of bad guys. remember that anthrax stuff last year?
2) "should that guy living in his hut on the top of mt. everest export his drawings?" - does anyone care? is the rest of the world suddenly too stupid to create cryptographic tools? are only americans up to the trick?

macrovision tries to stop people from copying their dvds to vhs.
1) who would want to do that? the only answer can be: people who don't have a dvd player yet. and i don't really see why they shouldn't do it. "professionals" will have ways to circumvent those protections anyway, which leads us directly to
2) the matrox g550's tv out apparently ignores macrovision, and for TNT2 cards there's a 'tv tool' to disable it.
don't most hardware manufacurers have their plants outside the u.s. anyway? what about all those taiwanese companies? and companies like amd producing their chips all over the world?
yes, you're SO right. degress say it all. in a world where people like albert einstein get kicked from schools and a person like your mister "w" (apparently) gets a degree, you MIGHT consider thinking about that.
your country is not a republic either, "you fukwit". in a republic, the president is the man (or woman) who gets the most votes, and not the one with the lowest iq. "if you cannot make the distinction then don't presume to comment on the matter."
a couple of hundreds of years ago, quite a lot of people fought for their freedom and against their suppressing governments. they created a couple of free, democratic nations all around the world. now those governments are back in their old way of doing whatever they want and completely ignoring their citizens' rights. how long till the next revolution? call me, i'll be there...
i mostly agree. the current murdering of thousands of people all around the world in a "fight against terror" lead by the most stupid person ever in such a powerful position is simply awful. if that's what "civilization" is about, we should abandon it... (i do not agree that killing more american civilians would be good, but i'd _love_ not to see that "w" person anymore)
hmm... i've only just had a kernel panic while recompiling 2.4.12... waiting a couple of days before installing the latest kernel might be a good idea:)

i don't think this would easily be possible, as the new athlons are in some tasks better than the p4, but (i think) the intel cpu is WAY faster with video de(en?)coding...
as far as i know, the temperature is measured and reported, but the system doesn't switch off automagically if the temp. is higher than the limit (90C, i think)
great, george "wanker" bush once again shows his total stupidity and his inability of political discussion. "let's kill some people, maybe it helps"...
sometimes i like NOT being an american.
now the u.s. can finally show their military strength. now the u.s. government can finally do whatever it wants to fight nasty things like privacy. now the u.s. can finally hunt/bin/laden who keeps repeating that he's not guilty for those attacks. and last but not least all the u.s. citizens suddenly seem to have become extremely patriotic.
so, for me, it seems much more probable that this whole thing was planned by the u.s. government, as it seems to help the bush government a lot in following their plans. besides, i think it's RATHER improbable that terrorists who plan such an attack for months / years just leave their footprints everywhere. it seems MUCH more probable that those footprints have been laid by some f.b.i. (or whatever) guys. at least to me.
hunt me, i don't like the current u.s. government!

well, i was actually replying to ShavenYak's message...
well. i think you're wrong. i learnt french, english, italian, latin and some spanish at school and english WAS the easiest of them.
except maybe for german, but that might be due to the fact that my native, swiss language actually IS some sort of german...
maybe it's sort of "patriotic", so it should be alright...
looking forward to the next copy protected cd...
however, sometimes two servers are not enough...

this planet here is getting pretty crowded, so we'd better hurry with building new ones...

right. problem: with the current fascist us govt, EVERYBODY is an enemy of the state, thus those "judicial orders" won't be too hard to get...
