Well, that's not possible too. You see, they regularly sell more bandwidth or connectivity than they have. With Net neutrality when Internet bandwidth becomes overused, all customers' service tends to be degraded equally without failing completely.
But if you are implying that they can only sell "fast lanes" if they are forbidden to overselling net capacity, then it's all right I guess.
But that will not happen, ever. At least not in the real world.
Fast lane? Do you know how QoS works? The only way possible is, when you have a congestion, which packets will you drop? If you have "fast lanes", you drop all the other traffic, except the one in classified as " fast lane". Actually, this term is deceptive. The car metaphor doesn't apply. There is no "lanes" in data communication. There are only queues, and space for one packet at a time to flow. If there's space for all packets, no problem! But when there is a congestion (and we have it all the time) priority traffic goes first, the rest goes when priority is not using. Hope I've made myself clear, but you can see in Wikipedia to know more.
Sauce for the goose? Or is it crow? I wonder how they prepare crow in Brazil?
Well, we don't. The common crow isn't found in Brazil. We have Azure Jays and White-naped Jays (same family, different genus, I believe).
But what "sauce for the crow" means? Sorry to ask, but English is my second language.
Would you all PLEASE do not RTFA this time? I cannot, for the love of God, read another whiny story about "I'm Matt Honan and I was fucked in the ass (metaforically speaking) by a 15 year old". And if this post get slashdotted, Wired will post another 100 stories about that. So please DNTRFA!
And if your employer had provided you with an Iphone? It would be any different? You can't side load apps in IOS, can you? I mean, without jailbreaking the phone.
If I understand well, what you are saying that apps should be a highly regulated market.
From TFA:
" Although the infected apps request an uncommonly large number of privileges -- something that the user must approve -- Haley argued that few people bother reading them before giving their okay."
If I am allergic to nuts, and I don't bother to read the big red label that some cookies contain nuts, if I get in a coma, hey, that's Nabisco's fault, not mine! They should KNOW I can be bothered to read some boring warnings. I want my cookies, and I want NOW!
Slashdot should change the headline to "New SMS Trojan Found In Application Stores/Markets". That would call even more readers.
Because that IS the point, isn't?
I wonder if they will pull out of the UK too? The UK has distance selling regulations that mandate a seven day "cooling off period" for internet sales.
Indeed, it looks like these regulations should be EU wide and I don't see any exemption for software sales.
I rather have the possibility to install malware on my device, because I want to take the risks, than have someone forcing me to install only what's someone think it is good for me.
And that is the default option in Android. Want to use unknow sources? Check here, read the disclaimer, assume your responsability.
My device, my rules, my risks.
Obviously you never heard of the book formely know as "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Pirates" (now called "The Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries" after a cease and desist from FranklinCovey. How appropriate).
Rule 29: The enemy of my enemy is my enemy's enemy. No more. No less.

He allegedly did that. The media uses allegedly for pedophiles, but Snowden doesn't have this privilege?

My code, my rules. Don't like it? Well, make your own code then, but do not use mine!
As my friends in Wikipedia would say, "Citation needed".
If it was in the US, I would say the Patriot Act. There is a Patriotikoú Nómou in Greece?
Europe knows it very, very well.
have you tried RTFA?
And if your employer had provided you with an Iphone? It would be any different? You can't side load apps in IOS, can you? I mean, without jailbreaking the phone.
Please please please mod parent up!

It's funny when americans are faced with public healthcare systems that work. Actually, it's not funny, it's sad.
As Randall Munroe would have said,"citation needed".
The first time I saw someone coding a MUMPS program, I figured that it was just a memory dump.
Uncanny Valley comes to mind. I'm the only one to think that is a little bit creepy talk to a machine in the same manner I would talk to a person?
How arrogant! Do you really think Slashdot had anything to do with the withdrawal ?
Well, if you are a employee of Verisign, could you tell us why then ? If you're not, tell us anyway. We like to read fiction. :)

Jail-broken Android? Android is not in jail (or in a walled garden, if you want to put that way). And I don't need root to use PGP. Please clarify!

No problem. The enemy of my enemy is my friend!

Since when is Ubuntu the 'bad linux'?
I was thinking the same thing. Someone mod parent +1 please?
