Still, armed with the logic gate chart for redstone, I spent way too much time recreating myst-like puzzle worlds in the depths of caves, which was too awesome. Oh man this conversation is making me itch for more minecraft.. arrrrhhggg i thought i quit I was over 30 days sober guys!
Emulation is a lot different than native processor running code. Emulation means emulating the very processor the original roms ran on, which means a whole heck of a lot of wasted clock cycles. It may in fact make a difference. I remember having trouble running N64 roms on my 1.8 ghz machine.
I actually created a multi-world online game around minecraft, that allowed you to move items between worlds or sell them in an online market. It's called mineverse.com
I ran out of funds though so I currently don't have any servers online:(
I found that redstone logic gates were pretty useless in multiplayer, is that fixed yet? I'd get spotty functionality at best, which made my minecart delivery system only work sometimes..
No, if it grows enough it becomes something worth investigating. After investigating the facts (not the anecdotes), and ruling out other factors, they determine if they've got enough statistical evidence to suggest a change. If not, they may do further study.
Anecdotes are just so useless. Ever hear of that guy who wasn't wearing a seatbelt and THAT saved his life in an accident? I know I'll never wear a seatbelt again!
The advantage of amazon is that they've got a staff who are experts at distributing the workload in a server farm, while keeping the cost of the farm proportional to only the amount being used. It's prohibitively expensive to own and operate this infrastructure if you only expect to get bogged down on black friday, but don't want to buckle under the load.
It's more than co-location or managed hosting. It's a price efficient way of distributing load. Of course, if it's like any other technology, as this equipment gets cheaper and easier to use it's likely you'll see a move from the cloud back to hosting it yourself. Technology has a funny way of ebbing and flowing like that. The original 3D movies had complete server farms that were prohibitively expensive to run unless you were a major player (i.e. pixar). But as processors get better and cheaper, starting your own render farm is becoming more realistic, and there are some very impressive amateur renders out there. (we're not all the way yet though)
There's no way to wrap up River Song with this Doctor, she commented on how young David Tennant looked during "Silence in the Library", and Matt Smith looks even younger. The beginning of her story MUST start with an older doctor.
As an American, I hate the fast talking over loud music- I have the darndest time figuring out what Matt Smith is saying. David Tennant was easier to understand.
Great! Competition will fix it! Oh look Verizon and AT&T are really making everybody step up their games! Wait... what's this I hear? Every major company is eliminating their unlimited plans, so now no company feels compelled to do so? Competition is driving features backwards? As long as all companies maintain the status quo, they can wring more money out of us for less features? You're right, the free market is surely sorting this out.
I hate that artificial limit. Netflix works like a dream on the droid! Why not let it out with minimum requirements and let us decide whether or not to use it!
I've got a moto droid with cyanogenmod 6 (the latest 6 stable release, i forget which) and the modified netflix apk works wonders. Don't hold your breath for them to release for droid 1, i don't think anybody loves us anymore:(
Agreed, as somebody who rooted to upgrad to cyanogenmod on his moto droid 1 solely because google crippled their build*, I was one of those people who already willingly pay a few bucks here and there for movies on my roku with amazon VOD. They've lost a good revenue stream here.
*when android went to 2.2 (or maybe it was 2.1, I don't remember), they disabled the notification LED on the droid while the screen was on. This was a pointless move with no setting to over-ride it. With as many fullscreen apps that I have (like when it's docked), I like to see notifications that are in the background using the color LED. Far be it from me to want to be notified by my phone when there's communication!
But the final straw was taking silent mode off the volume rocker. Either Vibrate was ON or Vibrate was off, 5 menus deep in the settings, but the rocker wouldn't do both: (loud -- med -- soft -- vibrate only -- silent). Waste of time. Thank god for cyanogenmod.

Thanks for offering this counterpoint, I'm on board with this too. Did anybody play any of the originals? I'd say this fits the franchise just fine.

The mice, they keep saying Coraline. Not Caroline at all!
Hahaha, thanks for the laugh. somebody mod him UP!

I'm thinking left-half jesus. AMIRITE?
Thank goodness you didn't draw it, I would've been offended. Otherwise, your text is completely harmless. :D
Right .11% is kind of a pointless number. It's .08% that is easy to hit without drinking much.
Not exactly rocket science.. heh, this is worth a watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB_axXn8ot8
Right, what we expect to see from google is the first anti-entropy patent. Licensing it would be too expensive though, so all-in-all we're doomed.
My Quantum hard drive ran just fine, but my cat died...
...maybe
good catch

If you've got stock options in this startup, I suggest you start off today making that "bet" of a physical copy more of an assurance.
Also worth pointing out: history is written by those who made predictions and weren't wrong!
You mean your friend can't type with a plunger??
(lol mod parent up!)
