Why is rap still so popular? I think it answers the 21 century carving for information, for example the same information as in main article will have doubled it's length in almost any other modern music style.

The biggest feature I would like to see on Slashdot is to be able to see parents of messages, for example I'm viewing a 5 rated post but I can't figure out what he is talking about because the parent is hidden. So it will be great to be able to configure it.

I'm a programmer and English is not my native language and I can tell you that you can't be an up to date good programmer without English (most recent documentation is in English, so you should be able to at least read it) So if you had to learn another language in order to be a programmer you would do it. I think you were nether in such situation when you really needed another language.

For reading, a wide screen is more important than a tall or square screen... IMO

May be for viewing books, but not for reading, for reading it's better to have a PDA like device which comfortably fits into your hand.

They already do this in Russia. And most popular modern Russian Sci-Fi writer has a link from his blog to his on-line shop where he sells his books. One book costs about $1, compared to about $2-3 for paper book. So it's doable and possible. Most people there read books on PDA.
