Yes, the anchors do look like they'd rather be reporting syncronized swimming then robots. They really don't need anything but an annoucer, let the robots speak for themselves.
I think LCD gives off less radiation, but radiation none the less. They have fonts that are said to be harder to detect, so if you had a LCD with these fonts and some tempest shielding you should be good. I wonder if they can do something similar to keyloggers, but with video. IE: transmit the video to a reciever somewhere... paranoia is always good
Ah, but what about software keyloggers. Keyloggers in the cable... or my favorite, Tempest. Who needs keyloggers when they can read your screen from the radiation.

Data Mining?

Why? Paying for 4-5 sites would probably be more expensive than just one. This one was built in a space that was not being utilized to the max, they didn't have a group looking for 'The Ultimate Colocation Center'. It also saves cost, the cooling systems consist of a couple of fans. I'm assuming, but the cooling in some datacenters must be budget consuming beasts.
It also has some other unique features, it'd be awfully hard for someone to steal your box, as its inside a mine:) It's also pretty much immune from fires, some idiot with a car slamming into your building.. etc.. It also has a ton of room, something cities are in short supply, as well it'll be one of the first things powered back up. Besides, some people want their data stored in a place that is indeed bombproof. Hell, this thing might even be immune to EMP, because of its particular location.
Yes, but not everyone has a render farm in their basement. You could do alot of things now on a huge number of computers that you won't be able to do on a single one for many years.
Why use a computer at all? Tempest and all. You should build a bunker 80 feet under the ground, and live out the rest of your life knowing that they will not be able to steal your thoughts or your personal info.
I was rethinking the dependance idea. Nanobots can synsthesize pretty much everything they can get their hands on. But, they can't make things that require them to be in a different place, like crystals grown in space. Zero gravity has strange effects, and so it would be almost impossible to recreate the crystals. But, we are talking about nanobots here, they would most likely have the ability to replicate themselves, and why replicate an inherit design flaw, like a dependance on something?
These nanobots would be unique, so you could make nanobots (A) that seek out and destroy the gone-wrong nanobots (B). Granted, the nanobots (B) would likely be able to protect themselves, and could probably even modify themselves to appear like the other nanobots (A).
For those of you unfamiliar with Asimov and the Three Laws of Robotics it goes something like this.
1) A robot shall not through action or inaction allow a human come to harm.
2) A robot shall always obey the orders of a human unless it violates the first law.
3) A robot shall attempt to save itself, unless this violates the first and second laws.
Now, this was developed for robots with positronic brains, much more advanced than your average nano bot is likely to be. But when you take into consideration the complexity of what a nanobot has to do, there must be something controlling them, right? Well, I'm not sure a computer of today could really comprehend the idea of human life, or how its action could affect it.
Going completely offtopic now:) Another way of controlling these pesky little automotons is through the use of food, if you make them dependant on something they cannot make themselves. This is the tricky part, as in theory they could probably make everything they ever need, or redesign themselves to no longer need the item.
But, if a hoarde of nanobots gets out of control, we do have a way of stopping them, an Electro Magnet Pulse wreaks havoc with pretty much every electronic device, and to shield the little buggers would be an act of utter stupidity.
Basically, if a destructive force of nanobots gets released, that can duplicate themselves, is immune to EMP, and is self sufficient. Well, we are quite screwed, you have to rely on the fact that no one in their right mind would design such a doomsday device.
Your misunderstanding, its easy for the user to get rid of the program. But, what about the people who use the program, and goto Slashdot, it'll show up with a bunch of creepy yellow links, they didn't ask for this to happen, there was no Opt-In choice for them, it did it automatically.
"Two of the victims, whose identities have not been released by the Swedish authorities, died after mixing the drink with vodka. The third died after taking several cans after a hard gym session."
So two morons die because they drank too much alcohol, and the third died probably from over exhaustion. They ingredients from one Hyper-Energy-Super-Mega-Caffiene-Drink to another don't change, they are all packaged in the same strange little can too. Somone else is probably gonna die because the commercials too literally "Red Bull Gives You Wings!" and pancakes himself into a busy intersection. There are over 6 billion people in the world, and as the Darwin Awards have shown, people die from incredibly stupid things everyday. But the drink is a convient scape goat, just like Ectasy gets blamed for everything ever gone wrong at a rave. A drink that kills people is very counter productive to what most people care about, the profit margin. But the media latches on to one thing and makes the entire populace scared to death of something. Energy Transmission Lines? Obviously the work of the devil. Radiation from Cellphones? Again must be the devil. People tend to believe everything they read in print of on a 'respected' website.
The only problem though, is that your making a movie about a very complex and strange subject. Dune isn't your average piece of literature, but when the person who wrote it isn't around for consulting there might be misinterpretations and mistakes. I'm not saying that the author has to be there to make it a good movie, it just helps. I really enjoyed the first miniseries, but even then, it had a book, another movie, and so on to go from.
Man attempts suicide by strapping himself into a 'cylinder like' structure and placing a large amount of explosives underneath him. Local suicide experts call this 'A Rocket'.
That everytime something unexplainable happenings.. UFO's, lights, strange dreams, an NT Server that doesn't crash, and other such paranormal activies happen, theres always some guy that says its seismic. Everytime, but maybe thats just because when you compare a certain recurrance of events, your likely to find a pattern with something. A large creature living in a lake seems unlikely as hell, but stranger things have happened.
Nah, if was really the BOFH he would've changed the routing tables so that all requests to slashdot.org get changed to goatse.cx, and then telling the guys that 'Doppler Static Effect' is their problem and that they need to demagnitzie the electrical contacts with their tongues.
Well, you'd have to get the video before they added Jar Jar, but this video would probably be lacking some of the other special effects, it could be done, but to do it properly you'd need some sort of Industrial Light and Magic:)
IIRC The stylus silo has a hole in it for some reason, theres lots of ways for dust to get inside any device, but this is a particular nasty flaw. The monochrome version of the IPaq has this fixed, but for some reason they haven't fixed the colour version.
I'm not sure that's a great idea.. I mean, some people are so bogged with work. They carry around PDA's, Cell Phones, Laptops and are expected to work all the time. So, your in your nice new Golf and wham, suddenly your employer demands that every oppurtunity you stop you work on that projec that in all fairness should be done on their time only. The mp3 part seems cool, but who really needs to surf the net, in a car? Propietary browser that propably won't support much, and it could be used for DoS's, if the Browser and the Mp3 player are connected, then a website that forces your mp3 browser to play hamster dance at 3000 Db, could cause a bunch of accidents.
This isn't on one single site though, if you combined all the records from every site you'd get a rough number. But, not all people are downloading it, some are getting copies burned for them. Others, not even in the beta are downloading it, for some strange reason.
Some yahoo said that they'd post to alt.binaries.images when they get it, so if your a trusting person, and are willing to wait until your newserver to get it, that'd probably be the fastest.

Well, if the current method is different from the ancient one, it wouldn't really be Damascus steel would it?
But, if you really melodramatic you could be confused for Max Payne.

That looks more like a geek's computer room than a simulated mars habitat.

Again, looking more like a geek kitchen than a mars habitat.
Perhaps this is a sinister plot to see how Geeks In Space would survive.. creepy, no?

Everytime someone talks about ads, or ad-blocking software you have three groups.
A)Hardcore users that configure host files to block
B) Unix users that use Junkbusters
C) Windows users that use Proxomitron
It's kind of interesting. I'm a proxomitron user myself, works good.. has problems with Hotmail though.
