I remember this, I was really hyped for it too. It wouldn't work for your DC or PS2. Look at your average genesis rom, a couple of MB. Then look at your average DC Iso (Gb-Rom) and the PS2 which is on DVD's.. you'd need a huge pipeline, massive storage and so on.
Yeah, but if they're going to go to the trouble to listen in on your phone calls, why not the oldschool way of getting a high gain directional microphone, if your phone calls are that goddamn important, a shady black van is probably following you. Even more so, 'Big Brother' could just put listening devices into the phones before they get shipped out, and who really uses Cell Phones for secure communication?
Take in mind, these are people that design sattalites to read license plate numbers. The pussy ass reciever logitech gives you, doesn't compare to a van full of High-Tech equipment. You could always swap out the components in the reciever/keyboard and make a better system yourself. But, using a keyboard from 10Ft away sucks, unless you have like a nice giant screen.
If the game is less boring the Everquest, then they may have a hit on their hands.
Gee, sounds like Rob is having a bad day/week/month. First he's advocating WinCE over PalmOS, using windows to play Diablo (Okay, maybe its wine/vmware), and now Everquest is boring. What Mr. Malda obviously needs is a quick shot of Prozac, provided free of charge thanks to Big Government and Big Business.
Theres a product similar to this, the Sony Emarker, its like a little keychain with a button. If you hear a song you like, but don't know what its called, hit the button and then later you put the emarker into a USB slot and it'll tell you what the song was. Unfortunately, it only works in America. I suppose it too could be used to track your listening habits. More Info Here
Lets see, they're using the Palm trademark. They are selling PDA's (Personal Drinking Assistant) so based on recent litigations i'd say Palm does have grounds for a civil suit.
Most of these people say that it would be cheaper to buy a new processor, but in actuallity you can build a good water cooling system for less than $100USD, factor in a new processor and fan, and thats quite cheap. Hell, why not buy a new processor and add a water cooling system.
Bullshit, informed? how do you know it's not a bunch of flying winged monkeys. Theories are only slightly better than guesses. Besides, Slashdot isn't exactly the best place to go for people knowledagable in the physics of bodies moving through uncharted portions of space. If you really want informed opinions, try and berate the people at NASA and JPL. Slashdot is more of a jack-of-all-trades thing, theres probably someone with the background similar to Stephen Hawking on here. But the only thing they can offer you is, their opinions and theories. Again, not necessarily better than my theory of tiny space going simians.
a) Legality, say the information contained on the site is illegal (DeCSS), or maybe the site's author doesn't want to have it mirrored. Especially if the person depends on the ad revenue.
b) Doesn't work all the time, say the website is dynamic, like that Perl to Flash website. There's no way to mirror that easily. Or the mechanical counter. etc.
c) Its not the freshest information, the author could decide to revise the information. But the mirror might not reflect that.
d) What to mirror, what not to mirror. Lets say that a site makes use of a lot of links to other sites, do you mirror those as well, and the links on those sites?
Sometimes the internet doesn't work the way you want to, if this bothers you so much, you can devote your time to making a way to mirror sites mentioned on slashdot before they get slashdotted.
You'd pay by credit card, so they not only know where you are, but how fast your going. This goes into a huge database, which helps the government track your whereabouts at all times, and helps to promote billboard ads.
Don't worry, i'm sure theres a EULA on the road, that you accept by placing your vehicle on it. I mean, the EULA is in your best interest, the Government made the roads for you to drive on, they should atleast have the guarntee that you won't try to reverse-engineer the process of road making. Thats a strictly controlled process, and has strict regulations as defined by the Building Code Laws. But you wouldn't know that, as it can't be published freely.
wow, thats quite impressive. I only hope I can still be a l33t h4x0r when I get to your mightily impressive age. Granted, I want to live forever.. but thats another story..
"FreeSQL is an attempt to build a SQL layer for Freenet, so that you can use Freenet as the storage component for SQL-based applications. Implemented (for now) in perl, it strives for total SQL compliance, so that any SQL-based app can be ported to Freenet."
While i'm not doubting the guy's abilities, it says that he's a multimillionaire. Now, if I had multimillions, i'd follow Tito. I mean, why not leave it up to people who know what they are doing, and have done it sucessfully. I mean, look at all the failures that have happened in both the American and Russian space programs. Getting into space is a little more complex than strapping a whole lot of explosives to something, and praying:)
I just prefer to think of 2001 as a joke at IBM's expense myself. The whole trojan horse thing, or the homo-machinus is just something that happens when one over analyzes a piece of work/literature/art. One can draw any number of parralels between 2001 and Greek Myths as long as look hard enough. Why, Arthur C. Clarke lives on top/close to the top of Sri Lanka right? Well obviously he equates himself with some sort of greek god.
For you graphic tablet needs, I suggest Wacom. Theres support for like every operating system, either by Wacom or by third party users. Intuos are excellent, and each person can have they're own 'pen' for personal use. The pen has a unique id, and you can store personal settings for each pen. Quite a handy feature, too bad I only have one:)
That seems like a great idea, a P2P web browser. The only problem is, sure you can find out a lot of things that maybe 'they' don't want you to. But that requires the information be on a server somewhere, and servers require bandwidth, so if 'they' really doesn't want you to see it, they can just take that server out. Like the French and Ebay there. We need more 'Freenet' alternatives too!
Well, theres lots of stuff in Popular Mechanics/Sceince in the gadget section that 'say' will alert you if someone else is eavesdropping on your phone line. I also recall something about the voltage of your phone line going up if 'They' are listening in. Not too sure about it though.
Well, it seems like it could be more efficient. Considering a person who would buy a car like this, is probably more concerned about the environment than going Really Fast(TM). The car is designed obviously to get the most power out of the biomass. If you had a city car, the requirements would be different. Also, one could probably improve the effiency by using a high quality biomass, it doesn't say specifically what it runs on, but some vegetation that has a high concentration of.. uhh.. Chemical X would definately help.
Who comes up with these ideas? I mean, i'm sure someone with a high priced education was involved. But, can't they see the obvious? It's been said before, if you can see it, you can copy it. If you can hear it, you can copy it. Attempting to control information is just an open invitation to steal it.
I suppose this is a good idea, I mean, if the people started to think for themselves.. they might start adopted different religions or different political views. Oh my! Yes, we must prevent this terrible atrocity from happening. I urge people not to defeat these simple minded by using things like proxies and other such devices.
Well, this wouldn't have happened if it was truly anonymous. Like American Express' plan for one-time use credit cards on the web. Say that punk waiter did have a thing in his jacket that read your card, wouldn't work because a new ID is generated every time you use it. Anonymous and more secure. Well, the credit card company could still have a huge database of purchases, but then it would only be the credit card with a big list'o' info on you, instead of everyone.
Hahahahah! Imagine a blackout hitting a computer inside the power company! That's about as likely as Bill Gates inviting Linus over for drinks.

He has a Playstation with ONE really BAD game.
It was a train simulator, similar to Microsoft's Train Simulator.. weak.

He didn't win any clothes, nor did he ever win any bread. Rice and womens underwear apparently are more common prizes in Japan.
