Does this mean that if I buy a fusion heater I'll have to have him come to my house to change the thermostat all the time because he's the only one that can make it work?
Well why not make the dongle emulate a monitor and just pass the signal straight through to YOUr monitor?
TFA mentioned revoking the keys that such a device would use, but it seems to me that it would be easy enough for someone to give the passthru a flashable firmware. I don't see it being impossible to read a key off an existing device, either.
And imagine if someone got the key from a Viewsonic (or even better, a Dell) monitor and it got put n everyone's dongle....the only way to stop that would be by cutting off everyone who bought that monitor. And that might open us up a nice little class action lawsuit.
The aerial photography isn't as good in large areas.
In my area, the aerial views MS has are infinitely better even though they're out of date.
Try looking for "Bowling Green, KY" in both and comparing the images. MS has older 1 meter resolution USGS aerial photos, Google has satellite images from so far out that you can't pick out buildings.
I'm sure the coverage will eventually improve, but Google's satellite photos aren't useful in this area.
That said, I really do prefer Google Maps overall.
The only thing I wonder is...what can they REALLY prove after you get that?
All they have is a data file with a bunch of IP addresses that they claim were responsible for infringement... I could make that up any day, just need to pick a random list of IPs. Hell, they could just use the counter on their web page.
To tell you the truth, I wouldn't really be interested in that either.
Trying to simulate the way the world "really" works on a computer would end up as a clunky mess any way I can imagine doing it.
Looking down at my desk, do I really want my computer to look like this? Papers everywhere, no order to anything, stuff left wherever I put it last.
On the computer, it's much easier to file things in a directory. They stay there after you use them, keeping order.
Rather than turning around and looking behind me to find where I store my music, why not just click on a "Music" link on the desktop?
Certain paradigms just don't make sense in certain situations. I most certainly would not want a GUI interface on my car. And I wouldn't want to operate my network as a hallway.
There's already a scroll wheel on a keyboard on the lower right.
Only it's called "cursor keys".
The point of a scroll wheel is that when doing things such as looking at web pages, you tend to always have one hand on the mouse. The other does not sit at the keyboard the whole time.
And as a left-handeder, my thumb is not on the left side of the mouse. I decry you as a racist.
It uses a DLL file that is also used by a keylogging trojan, but it doesn't actually install the trojan, just the DLL. I think it had something to do with some timing or other. I tried it myself after reading that post, but that was quite a while ago and I no longer have the software, so I don't remember the exact name.
Whoever originally posted that just didn't do his research.
You know, somehow I don't think that this got mentioned (unless it was just modded too low):
Remember, this freaking kid has already made well over $4000 off of this. Being put on the internet is the best thing that's ever happened to him. Somehow I fail to have sympathy for someone who is laughing all the way to the bank.
Sure, I was in the same situation myself, roughly. I wasn't fat in high school, but I didn't have a great deal of friends (my personal nickname was "Star Track" (no, not "Star Trek", kids are stupid, remember?)). Personally, I could have put up with the other kids making fun of me somewhat easier if people around the world decided to send me lots of money.
Shouldn't your stuff be safe if encased in metal, like a Faraday cage? It seems to me that the case of the computer would block the signal... anyone care to share why it doesn't?

Don't go spying on me just because I am a law-abiding citizen.

Wait, you mean Linux can be used for EVIL?
A classic example of why Europe needs to be destroyed.
Another burglar sued him for "lost wages".
It does not appear to aim, though.
The target tracking is the best part.
Seems to me you could output to VGA or DVI.
I admit, I'm no hardware expert, but I don't see why it shouldn't work for any type of output you want.
DVI has the added benefit of making the MPAA more upset since it's still a digital signal.

You have a very interesting definition of "perfect sense".
So wait.
Every single person who responds to spam replies to it, and it is considered a DDOS?
Hmmm, if every time I got an advertisement in the mail I drove down to the store to complain there wouldn't be anything wrong with it.
Same with the Lycos thing. I don't consider it a DDOS. I consider it responding to an advertisement.
640 years ought to be enough for anybody
I think I love you.
You're right.
Professional musicians haven't done anything for me, let's get rid of them.

Might be because the maps MS uses (at least the closeup b&w 1m resolution ones they have of my area) are publicly available from USGS.
The difference in VistaDB and Vista is about the same as Tiger and TigerDirect.
I realize that it MUST be evil if Gates does it and it MUST be good is Jobs does it, but come on now.
Not really, I just usually stay out of the comments.
Linux rules. Now I'm insightful!
OK, so why is it OK for Apple to release Tiger when Tigerdirect had the name first but it's not OK for MS to do the same thing?
Consistency, people.
Then again, he does force choke a guy in ROTJ for no apparent reason
I must have missed a step somewhere.
Ummm.... Everyone DOES have the right to own a gun.
In the United States, anyway.
Of course, that's got it's very own thing called the 2nd Amendment to go along with it.

Can this really, truly stand up in court?

Well you don't still have a copy of it you can mass-distribute do you? :-)
