    one would hope that clean water for washing was available

    eating out in a country without adequate trading standards is always a lottery esp. when in palces such as India, corruption is rife and the "inspectors" aren't necessarily concerned with public health over private wealth.

    perhap you missed this part :

    the display of the visual representation of the shortcut object on the virtual desktop includes a graphic for identifying the shortcut object as a shortcut to the resource.

    in other words, those funky little arrows that mean "shortcut"

    yes, they have a patent on showing -> next to a link
    now then, where did I see that sort of thing before, hmm lemme see if there's anything on my disk :

    You can already turn AC posts off as a logged in user.

    IP Based banning is easy to get round

    I know, my ISP is banned from /.

    not just some backwater ISP, the UK's biggest DSL provider ntl:

    they use a transparent proxy [sic] so /. thinks we all have the same IP

    what's the point of that ?

    If I am logged in and want to post AC you suggest I should log out, create an email address, create an account, log in, then post.

    So not only have I wasted my own time but some poor webmail sucker has had to sort me out an email account I will never use again.

    Why can't I just tick Post Anonymously and carry on my merry way

    This IP address or network has been used to abuse the system and logins from it have been disabled. If you feel that this is unwarranted, feel free to include your IP address (62.254.0.12) in the subject of an email to banned@slashdot.org, and we will examine why there is a ban. If you fail to include the IP address (again, in the subject!), then your message will be deleted and ignored. I mean come on, we're good, we're not psychic.

    and even though I regularly write to banned@slashdot stil nothing is done and I've *never* had a positive reply, in fact the only time I *ever* had a rpely was when I was insulting (thinking no-one even read the emails!)
