"This is effectively a second-generation Classmate PC, and integrates a Celeron ULV part and uses Linux, although down the line it is expected to migrate to a fully Atom-based system with a "lighter version of Windows" (whatever that is)."
One thing we did contribute to the English language was the word "than" which is used in comparisons. Unfortunately some people that never learned to speak the language correctly don't realise that "then" is not a homophone.
Open Source benefits form economies of scale just like other tools and machinery. Eventually it becomes cost effective to have motor mechanics to service your fleet of vehicles rather than being done by a third party. In which case buying vehicles for which detailed schematics are available would be advantageous. I think people get too emotional regarding the open/closed software debate. Sometimes it's just easier to buy a hammer than a hammer making kit.
Someone should invade them and introduce democracy. Oh yeah I remember, we already kicked out one invader in return for Kuwait becoming democratic, how that working out? hmm not too well I guess.
That sounds like the dumbest choice. The only negative effect an Asus client could have is if the USB flash drive contained malware of some description. Condemning the whole company because of one employees ignorance of MS's stupid xml magic really is cutting your nose to spite your face. Asus products have always been good to me.
For Americans Irish is synonymous with Policeman, particularly on the E. Coast. It's also why there's a 2000 Years of Irish Cops float on the St. Patrick's Day parade in The Simpson's episode (4F15) "Homer vs. The Eighteenth Amendment".
Sounds like you go to the wrong houses. Though it jars with me when people pronounce it Linn-ux rather than Lie-nux - and yeah, I know, I know but I'm old school.
> The machines, rebranded 'Magellan,' will also come with Linux
I tracked down an attribution - with pictures of the device

The Portuguese have also bought 500,000 of the same devices.

Postscript.
Or just plain text.
Postscript is a programming language though. It can infinite loop and read / write files.
The democratic British Empire managed to kill about 50 million people in under 100 years.

It says MicroSoft on my "Windows for Workgroups" floppies.

Most "evil" dictators kill nobody by their own hand.

Are you sure that's a proof ?
Plan 9 works in VMware for long time. There is an issue re. cd-roms such that you have to make a change to the config (disable it iirc).
tbh. the geek crowd is not something we care about :)
We don't have a complex. It's just a fact.
Leave Plan9 alone !!
Someone that's chosen BSD over Linux has already realised that BASH is to shells what high fructose corn syrup is to Americans.
You argue about the origin of language but can't use it yourself. One doesn't base anything off anything else.
Tens of millions is just a drip in our ocean of blood. We did 50 million in the 19th C, most of them in the last 25 years or so.
Language is defined by usage. We are going to keep calling you USians and you are going to like it.
Great Britain doesn't use Euros. However, The Republic of Ireland does.
One would prefer geology over geography to define continents.
I used to play TFC in my shutter glasses, it's fking great.
Only problem is the HUD overlay because that's not in 3d
He's always got my goat, I wish he'd give it back. I used to read his breathless commentary in Wired in the 90s, visionary - pah, up his own arse.
Bin Laden is not wanted by the FBI for WTC and never has been :
