Until you realize they will just lower their speeds. But...

Maybe it will happen, but then it will be easier to pick your ISP, right now there are so many hidden details it's very hard for a regular Joe to pick up the best package.

I'd go even further, 50ms is the maximum latency, packet lost should be under 1% and the upload and download should never go below 80%. Ofc, this would only apply inside their network. Plus some public monitoring of their routers / bandwidth so they can't blame someone else for their problems.

The speed of the connection is their decision, but we have to stop this sill over-selling capacity, bringing down the whole net.

Perl scripting is the answer. Install a free anti-virus, and setup a script checking. Check the anti-virus files and registry entry. You can get all the information you need, program virus version, database version, and use a central server to store the logs. Using scripts you can force anti-virus updates and restart. I have a lot of experience with Trend Micro and all the anti-virus parts are daily checked with Perl scripts (during the night), to make sure the clients behave.

Fining a company for misbehaving is not the perfect solution. The best thing to do is to make it impossible for them to break the law in the first place.

This is like saying speeding is ok, as long as you pay the fines.

And customers will get the damn Internet browser, if the reseller can't be arsed to put one in, they should be out of business anyway.

Unfortunately, most people don't realize that if you don't know what's wrong, it's usually best not to do anything, or to only do a few general, fairly harmless things. Far too many people get a "don't know, let's watch it" from the doctor, go home, diagnose themselves, then demand treatment (or worse, treat themselves).

So if they have no idea it's fine to do some background research yourself, then go talk to a doctor again, but keep very carefully in mind that self diagnosis is almost always a really bad idea.

You consider us idiots who don't know what they are doing. I know this can be the case, but I trust common sense to judge what is the appropriate action.

Microsoft uses partners to sell their product. Now M$ won't have the option do decide what browser we will get, instead the reseller will provide one for use.

The consumer will still get Windows with an Internet browser.

I know this is already the case with some dealers, but now EU said it's totally up to them what to bundle with Windows and not a Microsoft decision.
