I just got Applixware 5 in the mail yesterday. It's on sale pretty much everywhere for $49.95 and I must say, it is a welcome replacment for StarOffice.
Not like in Windows and linux where I need an CTRL+Q to quit
Damn, and all this time I've been using ALT+F4 (to quit) without any extra bending.
Key bindings, like touch-typing, are a learned skill. Different people will find certain keys akward to press, while others think it's "efficient" or "quick".
All it would take is one patient mis-quoting you (or another MD) and it's lawsuit time. You would probably have to have some _major_ disclaimers or some kind of click-agreement (not to use the BB in place of a real doctors advice).
True, multi-homed Windows machine can be a bit unruly. I've been lazy (about my sig) and I'm not that punny -- NT == Empty.
What I find interesting is how long I was lurking on/. before I got an account. Being a Windows user [at the time], I really never wanted to say anything to make wave. Now, things are a bit more out-of-control here -- it fun for everyone!
As a long time Windows user, I find that most Linux fans tend to think most Window's users are not technically inclined. This is rather annoying , to me, as I have found most things computer wise are related in many ways.
When I started playing with Linux (2.5-3 years ago) Slack was my first distro. Some guy I worked with gave my a CD and just said "try this".... A day or so later, I was up on the network (in Linux) and using lynx, emacs, vi et al.
Don't sell people short based on the OS they are currently using... Eveyone can learn a new trick or two
The sad fact is, the more things like these (Metallica vs Napster, MPAA vs DeCSS) happen, the more regulation big bu$ine$$ will bribe^H^H^H^H^H 'lobby' for (e.g. DMCA). Pandora's box can be opened (and it has) but you can bet the current pseudo-laissez-faire status will bend to piles of cash.
Well, I really like their rapid shipping.
shrug
Guess I'll have goto National instead of ACME next time I need to rent
A "I-fed-the-trolls-and-all-I-got-was-this-lousy-shi rt" Tee shirt!

Back then, MTV actually played videos. So I'm sure anyone who tuned during that era caught it.

Hmmm, I'd be a bit wary about a BB service.

You still forgot the semicolon at the end of the printf line. And did you mean #include ?
Well, Katz is a fscking moron. AND this story wasn't filtered by /.'s No Katz preference -- so I'm going with NURV. Even if just to be a jerk
IANAMR (I am not a movie reviewer)
Yeah I was thinking along those lines, but what TLA could I use? NFS is almost close enough...
Cheers
The evidence?

And one month later, a rich, bored 13 year-old with a a hex editor, soldering iron and an EPROM programmer is going to release a "patch"
YOU know wired is just using the word 'Linux' because they know it get plenty of links-to and clicks. Goddamn promotioinal stunt.
Worth every hour of effort to a newbie.
LFS
Its surfer/skater slang for "excited about" see also "amped"
Pardon my ignorance
;)
Perhaps we can start over; will "Designer" be sufficent?
Steed did models and animations -- not software development.
Here's a link, I haven't verified this to be the original code though...
Metallica's motion to ban the users from Napster
I'd like to truly believe this too.

...already 23 (and counting) of 'em on ebay
*grin*
Why is 'educatedescort' the only link slashdotted?
Interesting.
Now that's one of the funniest things I've read on slashdot.
Too bad I cannot moderate.
