My parents, who are both in their late 50's, cannot program the proverbial VCR -- So I got them VCR+ to take care of that. Now they love sending and receiving email. But all too often I'm called upon to provide some free:^) phone/on-site tech support to undo a change one of them has made. Adding a new UI that itself is customizable, and now those two are really in trouble.
Personally, I love skins, I just hope someone creates a Windows look + feel skin for my folks -- I'm too lazy...
The connector is the same (pin spacing/diameter), save for 4 "extra" pins. These pins provide the voltage. Notice there isn't a standard power connection on the laptop hdd.
You don't need to buy a laptop to get one though. Xerox isn't the only company to use laptop hdd's in copy/print centers;)
This article was posted by emmett, not Katz. Yes, I do have Katz's stories filtered out. This isn't one of them. slashdot looks like it could use some new options!
Concidering how much traffic Katz related articles generate, I want to address just a snippet of Jon's relpy to Q*bert's question:
I don't mean to be snarky, but I must have been away when you were elected mayor of Slashdot, and spokesperson for the community. How do you know how everyone views my writing?
...Perhaps not everyone on/. did, but enough moderators elected Q*bert one of the spokespersons for us. That's pretty snarky of you to forget about the moderators Jon.
When will slashdot allow me to hide _ALL_ stories related to Katz, not just the ones he writes. Perhaps fiter out EVERY refernce to Katz? Sure, he might be a nice person and all, I just don't care to hear any more about/from him.
The eBay site will be unavailable for Y2K verification from 15:30 PST to 18:00 PST on Friday, December 31 and from 23:00 PST, Friday, December 31 to 03:00 PST, Saturday, January 1. If you try to connect to eBay during these times, you may receive a "Failed to connect" error message.
We hope you'll read Meg's Letter to the Community. Thanks for your understanding and see you in the Year 2000!
Funny enough, I test Xerox print drivers... one change we have requested is disabling the "Duplex" option when "Labels" or "Transparencies" is selected in the print setup. Alas, until we have two-way toner (eg. surveillance mirrors) all my duplex Xpars are useless!
I'm may be a lowly temp, but i do a lot of user support/configs. To me the og ob was _very_ useful (at times) I only hope bo2k is better and more stable. Although I don't think anyone else (sysadmin) around here would agree:)
If I wasn't sick enough of this crap the other two times Katz posted this drivel... well, I guess the ol' preferences will need a tiny change today. Goodbye, Katz.

Hawaii doesn't participate in such foolishness.
This article at news.com claims the manufacturing costs are closer to $300-$400.

Another reason not to buy a cell phone.
Yep, The NorTel phone on my desk is proudly beaming:

Actually, I read about this first thing this morning on Yahoo.
;^)
Doesn't seem like Yahoo! is trying to hide anything

70% of all statistics are made up on the spot ;^)

Who unchecked my "exclude stories from..." box? Now that's scary...
I think I read somewhere about the government /encouraging/ reverse engineering... lemme see...

Borland C++ 5.0 (1997) can compile for DOS and win16. And, yes, call it foolish -- I do have a DOS 6.22 partition in my box.

I should have stored samples of my DNA /years/ ago. Damn, now the youngest I'll ever be [again] is 23 :)
Yes, but what Pizza Hut has _cute_ girls AND mid-riff baring uniforms?
