One of the things Musk impresses me the most with, is his ability to cut through red tape. I've never seen projects clear bureaucratic hurdles with such speed.

  5. A stable economy helps lead to a stable government. No guarentees of course; but coups and rebellions and the springing up of terrorist organisations and extremists are all usually linked to impoverished people and/or social inequality in a region.

Get a strong North African economy and you're more likely to see a stable government follow.

No doubt you are correct. However, the reverse is also true. It's a catch 22. Without some sort of major change in the economy, the government will not stabilize. Without a stable government, the economy will never improve.

Fighting government corruption is really the only improvement that can be made. Hopefully that will encourage some development and eventually stabilize the government.

  6. You don't have to conquer Algeria to invest in solar power there. I think exporting solar power to Europe would be an excellent industry for North-African countries.

It may also have environmental benefits for the region.

The problem is, to have successful industry, you need a stable and honest government. Something North Africa lacks.

  8. Model Y maybe. Semi and roadster are completely different animals. Very low production volumes and exotic parts. I doubt the semi would fit down one of those lines.

Roadster will likely be built by hand. The entire heavy trucking industry is only ~200k units annually in the US. Even if they command 50% of the market, we are only talking model S/X volumes.

The problem is the choice of operating system, not the consultant. Microsoft's windows 10 update ills cannot be fixed by any consultant.

Due to proprietary software, Windows is a requirement. A good IT consultant should work with the customer's needs. Blaming the customer is not a solution. I don't know how this got modded 5 insightful. It's very unprofessional.

Additionally, a consultant can and should work with the business to find a software solution that will work the best for that business. If the current software isn't working, the consultant should make recommendations for new software. The current consultant chose Windows 10.

Musk gets a lot of criticism for projects that are behind schedule or never completed. It's very important for him to show status updates like this.

He needs to keep posting updates in order to keep the interest up in the project. If public interest wanes, funding may go with it.

This serves as a proof of concept for tunnel design. Lessons learned in the construction of this tunnel can be used to improve future tunnels.
