At my previous employer we had a very bright individual who held a PhD. in combustion. The company paid for him to continue his education, so he got an MBA from a very prestigious business school. The day after he graduated he left for a high paying gig on Wall Street. The company responded by no longer paying for any schooling for it's employees.
Which, after watching this video, makes me wonder how the upper stage is supposed to behave. I noticed it spun off axis after separation. That seems a little strange to me.
Note: Yes, I watched it on Fox News. I've noticed that they actually have decent coverage of NASA.
The three power grids are out of phase with each other. Are they doing a AC->DC->AC conversion?
Correct. From TFA:
multiple power transmission lines from each of the Interconnections will feed power into and out of the Tres Amigas SuperStation through multiple AC/DC converters, each connected by DC superconductor cables.
The superconducting material is required because they are using an AC->DC->AC conversion. It's very difficult to transmit that much power using direct current without a superconductor.
Back in 2000 I was denied unemployment benefits because I made the mistake of telling the interviewer I had tried to get some contract positions.
I'm currently unemployed and someone just told me that I would still qualify for unemployment if I worked at Walmart because they pay so much less than what I made at my previous job.
The Government does have to get a warrant to open your mail. Don't they?
But you don't store your mail at the post office.
Unless you have a P.O. box...
terrible name. Come on ClearView is the best you could come up with?
Ben and Jerry's tried this.
No, by this rationale you need to pay more for top talent to prevent them from choosing other fields.
Don't be surprised when the truly intelligent notice where the money is going and choose to expand their social lives in the process!
I have news for you. The truly intelligent give up on science and engineering to go sit in an office and bark orders.
If you want to do science, do science.
But what if science doesn't pay the bills?
Sounds like your excompany needs a decent lawyer.
They have a lot of lawyers. Just not many good ones.
I want my salary to go up
Heck, I just want a job!

It took two years to find someone to replace him.
The upper stage was not a real upper stage.

How does the energy of hundreds of laptop batteries compare with the energy of 60 litres of petrol?
They are fairly robust.
see the trailer and think it was for a Mega Man movie?
Yeah, and there's a civil case in Illinois too.
Such stuff needs to be a felony.
In which case, the state of Texas is going to be busy with all of the anonymous vs. anonymous cases.
How is DNA folded into the nucleus of a cell without being tangled?
Very carefully.

how well does this technology actually work?
Just don't smile.
I don't use iTunes so I must be missing something. Do they sell Long Play records on iTunes or does LP stand for something else?

Man, I'm glad I didn't take that person's advice.
I've not really played PC games since the Doom era so I'm really out of touch here.
Since you last played Doom, ID released the source code.
As one of the few mechanical engineers on Slashdot, I approve of this experiment.
The way I see it the company with the hippest music, multiplied by the number of famous people in it's advertisements will come out on top.
Makes sense if you KNOW to start counting at Lithium
Yeah, I was looking at it saying, "Why isn't neon on the end?" It really doesn't look like much of an improvement to me.
We get solid precipitation here on earth all the time.
The parent raises a good point. How do we know the rock comes back down to the surface as a solid? Why doesn't it rain lava?
I have a p2015dn with that same problem, only it was after every big document. It was 100% solved by putting more memory in the printer.
Are you sure there isn't a memory leak in the firmware?
