Maybe not, but it's better than all the other answers so far.
With capitalism there's very little motivation to do something "good" just for the sake of it being "good".
I would argue that this is a problem with humanity. Capitalism is just a system that allows our race's true colors to show. We are flawed and greedy, plain and simple. If the human race was truly intelligent, we'd all realize we vote with our money and act accordingly. That will never happen. We can either accept that humanity is ignorant and greedy or we can keep trying flawed systems to go against human nature (for example, communism).
I'm about to drive from Illinois to California. I've got a nice new Powerbook G4 I'd love to bring. But I probably won't bring it because the GPS options for Mac are HORRIBLE. If only I could run Windows for that one reason. Now I have to bring my stupid old Dell laptop instead.
Was really hoping for a new Mac Mini. I'd like to get one for the living room and connect it to my HDTV. The current Mini apparently has fairly crappy DVD playback.
Yahoo makes maps, so Google needs to make them also. Yahoo has news, so Google needs to have news also. Yahoo has stock quotes, so Google needs to have stock quotes. Etcetera.
Though Yahoo has live traffic info on their maps and Google has not copied it. Yet.
No, only the crappy remote for the Hughes DirecTivos. My Sony SAT-T60 remote is wonderfully designed. In fact, it's probably one of the best remote designs I've ever owned.
Anyway, thank you for the search example. Please note that nowhere did I say that Yahoo search was better. I've used both Google & Yahoo for my searching needs. Up to this point, both have been up to the task. It's simply that when a stranger tells me something, I tend to be cynical when there's no proof given. Now, proof provided. (Looks like the parantheses goof up Yahoo's search... that indeed is lame).
It would appear Google has fixed their printing problem. I tried it a few times when Google Maps first came out and it wasn't pretty. But now, results of my directions from 1060 W. Addison to 2120 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago seem to have come out okay. (Bonus points if anyone knows the significance of these addresses, though the first one is easy).
Actually it's not my turn yet... you didn't acknowledge that Yahoo has a real-time traffic overlay available on their maps. In other words, something that I would say isn't "suckage" (to use your word). I believe they are working on custom directions based on traffic conditions as well.
My overall point is that both Google and Yahoo (and others) offer interesting and original features. On slashdot it's always "yay Google, Yahoo sux!" and I get a little tired of it.
The Creative Commons search on Yahoo is pretty cool too.

You've been involved with all of the main sequels in the Civilization series. I was wondering if you ever plan on getting involved again with Railroad Tycoon in a similar way? I know two sequels have already been made without your involvement -- they were pretty good. But I felt that something was "missing" in those sequels. Perhaps it was the Sid Meier touch? I honestly had more fun with the original Railroad Tycoon! I know I'm speaking for many when I ask if it's ever possible we'll see a TRUE sequel to your original Railroad Tycoon?
Yeah, it's pretty terrible that Yahoo makes you uncheck a box in return for a FREE piece of very functional software containing no advertising.
Where does Yahoo Messenger advertise? I prefer YIM over AIM specifically because AIM obnoxiously advertises and YIM does not.
And this is surprising in what way?
Your needs: modem, built-in compact flash, WAN card
Everyone else's needs: none of that.
People still use modems?
In short, what makes your "evil" evil?
Thank you for reminding me why I hated my college philosophy classes.
So maybe slavery and genocide aren't evil either?
Maybe not, but it's better than all the other answers so far.

Well intelligence is for everyone.
Yeah, who cares about those pesky ideals. Keep the piles of cash coming!
I need GPS for roads like this. Thanks for sharing.
(Yeah I know, don't feed the trolls)

For once I can just let my sig make my comment.
Why are Yahoo accounts ridiculous?
You are missing the fact that this is only the first step in a Yahoo-Tivo partnership that could get quite interesting down the road.

Yeah that Thomas Jefferson... what a dumbass.

This can't be right. You are saying that something provided by Google does not work? It that permitted on Slashdot?
Seriously, I'll check out the regular Print button, but I could have sworn that's what I tried (Firefox).
Please explain:
-Why Yahoo's search "sucks". Please give examples of a specific Google search outperforming Yahoo.
-Why Google maps won't print right.
-Why Yahoo has traffic on their maps when Google apparently invents every new feature on the Internet.

And apparently you can't read, because as I wrote, there are two sequels to RT. Just not involving Sid Meier.
What was the error you got when you were downloading the songs?
