And I'm sure that there are Internet hoarders out there that have managed to download 50GB of eBooks even though they don't read. You still have to buy a printing press if you want to sell a single paper book. The reality is, though, that authors will start bypassing publishers altogether, and will start to make a decent living from selling books really cheap.
Did you ever see the miniseries The Stand (or read the book, but I haven't)? Trying to break protocol and breach quarantine to save yourself because you believe you're not infected is almost as bad as trying to eat someone's brains.
Not to mention, "public" school is supposed to be taxpayer funded. Some families can't afford an Internet connection, or don't even have the spare cash for a computer (or just spend their money very badly). Yes, I know there are lots of fees involved in going to school, and homework requires all of the above as well - but that doesn't make it untrue.
You reduce 3 seasons of a show to one subplot and then call ME the one with selective memory? I think that there's plenty in Season 1 to enjoy. Torment of Tantalus and Thor's Hammer, for example?
You might enjoy the seasons when they had bigger guns. But my fondness always lies with the scrappy group that has no idea what they're doing - discovering that the greatest achievements of humanity are both small drops in a bucket and ripples felt throughout a galaxy. Now I'm making myself want to watch it...
I did read some more. It looks like they can't put a link to an online web store. But can they still sync outside purchases and simply not say in-app where you might buy such books?
It's anticompetitve, but we're still talking about apps sold in their own store. And until they're forced to allow competing app sellers, I think they should be able to say that.
As long as it's their store, I don't see why I wouldn't be. Would I like to see them forced to allow competing app stores? Maybe. But they should be able to set terms like that if they're selling the apps.
They can just stop selling in-app. Make people buy through the web site, the kindle/nook devices, and desktop apps only. They can keep their higher commission, and people are only inconvenienced for a while. They can still set it up so you can browse books in-app - just link them to the web site to complete the purchase. What's so hard about this? The books still sync to the app when purchased outside the app now.
I had a roommate back in the waning years of SG1 who was really into that and Atlantis. I couldn't really get into SG1 (it wasn't bad. Ben Browder and Claudia Black just made me wish I was watching Farscape), but I enjoyed Atlantis.
Late seasons of SG-1 simply pale in comparison. Seasons 1-7 are the ones truly worth watching. Atlantis kept that same feel to most of their series. If you like Atlantis, you'd probably like early SG-1. It's only good with Richard Dean Anderson, Don S. Davis, and the rest of the original cast. The writing was much better in that era.
Head to Stargate SG-1. The first several seasons of that are a blast to watch. Completely different (I'd say better) interpretation of the story details as opposed to the movie. Much more interesting mythology behind it than the movie. SG-U is only now starting to become like SG-1 was in the last 6 episodes or so.
Get ready for your new SATA DVD-R drive to fail within 4 years. I've not been able to get a burning drive to last more than 3-5 years, even with regular lens cleaning. Same goes for set-top DVD players, too, unfortunately.
How have you not ever had the want or need to burn a CD or DVD?
Some people want the support of major commercial software (Flash, Silverlight, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Studio) while still having a powerful terminal that runs familiar commands underneath. Not even Ubuntu with Wine gives me that
Mac app store purchases are good for 5 computers. Not sure if this would be different. What I see happening is them charging $30 for it on the App store and go back to $129 for the retail store pricing.
XP Mode is Microsoft Virtual PC running a VM with Windows XP. Not emulated by a long shot. How is it not compatible?
And then acronym-happy linux users will start calling them NFB and SSI and the world would never be able to remember what they stood for.
Quite pedantic, but very well put.
Something being legal, and being able to prove that something is legal are two different things.

Isn't a 300GB SATA drive cheaper than 400 CD's?

You need double buffering, Vsync, non-antialiased scaling, and NTSC noise to make it real.
I agree. Quick load widget = don't know how to write a program without using boatloads of memory.

I'm pretty sure that only applies if you sell in-app.

So what if there was good music? It was filler. Every single episode had a 6 minute montage/music video. It got old very fast.

Yeah...real smart. Fire the one that's calling attention to it and wanting the work - not firing the ones who were trying to keep quiet about it
I don't personally have Satellite, but it seems that almost every satellite receiver is underpowered to run the GUI.
I have trouble understanding how a black man can support the Party that opposed the abolition of slavery and created the Ku Klux Klan.
And I suppose you want to boycott Volkswagen because they support a country that brought about the Holocaust.
Face it, today's Republican party has nothing to do with the party of even 100 years ago. Same goes for Democrats.
