Never mind how far in the hole the Federal government is, and how much further in the hole it's going to be thanks to "tax cuts". I find it amazing that only in government can you cut income and increase spending and still have a job. I don't think even Bernie Ebbers could have held onto that one for any length of time.

So much for the "liberal media", eh?

As for the "Left Wing Elite" that's just conservative rhetoric because only Ann Coulter looks good in their camp. (badum ching)

Seriously though, I don't see "most americans" leaning towards conservative; I see the country being split pretty evenly, and what you perceive as "most americans" varies greatly with where you live. I live in Chicago, and here "most americans" are liberal, even if they're only moderately so (and there are some who are very NOT moderately so).

The problem is each side is getting further and further into the mindset of "fuck all those other idiots" instead of trying to work together. It's a damn shame, and it's going to screw up a lot of things before it gets better.

and we know WHY and HOW...But we also do know that our involvement in the equation is at least not trivial.

You have a lot more confidence in what a lot of greens (who ignore other science at their whim) are screaming than I do. I will concur that we know that it is happening, but we hardly know WHY and HOW. Hell, these same greens were screaming that we were creating another ice age back in the 1970's, so I fail to see how they have much credibility. Not only do we know now WHY and HOW definitively, we also can't say what our relative contribution is (because we lack those things).

What needs to happen is OBJECTIVE research into the causes of global warming, rather than rushed-to conclusions based on partial models. Hell, we only have really good meteorological data correlated with climate data for about 200 years (and I'm being extremely generous there), which is a mere blip on the radar "globally", certainly not sufficient to say we "know" anything conclusively.

Is it a good idea to reduce dependance on oil, and emissions of greenhouse gasses? Sure! But not because the sky is falling (melting). Continuing to insist that the sky is falling, and that it is only because of our production of greenhouse gasses, does no good for the cause of reducing oil consumption, it just makes you look like a goof.

I'm not a flag waver; never have been and likely never will be. But I know enough of the proper procedures to know that if I change my mind, I can get the information to do it right. Like lighting the flag at night (or taking it down), etc. I have a fair amount of respect for my neighbors who do it right (one guy does indeed have a light on his flag at all times)--even if I am certain that I wouldn't agree with them about some things--and none whatsoever for the bozos who think shredding a flag on their radio antenna is somehow patriotic.
