You obviously missed the part where he said: "if you disagree with the terms and conditions music is sold under, then don't buy it and support what matches your philosophies." If you actually FOLLOW that reasonable course of action, you WILL own what you buy and exercise fair use, won't you?

Nobody's holding a gun to your head and saying you have to buy movies and music. They're "luxury items". And you, as a (hypothetically) informed consumer and pick and choose the ones that fit your use requirements, including your concept of ownership and fair use.

As for "nice Dell", clearly you haven't been paying much attention to the news lately. Dell's hardware sucks ass and their customer service doubly so.

Please stop saying PCs are obsolete for gaming

Please try not to put words in my mouth.

For Joe Sixpack & Jane Plentybutt a console and a mac are ALL THEY NEED. Just because you and I are geeks who like to fiddle with our hardware doesn't mean we come anywhere near the markets that we're talking about.

PC's are great for gaming, and I'd never give mine up. But to say you HAVE TO HAVE two machines, a PC and a mac, is ludicrous because no one HAS to do any of this. And if you WANT primarily to surf, do email, manage your photos, maybe burn some DVDs, all you need is the mac, and all you need is a CHEAP mac at that. If someone wants hardcore gaming, and don't want to have a second PC, they'll go buy a console. DUH.

I don't like this decision much myself (I'm set to be squeezed off my current DSL provider by the local telco monopoly), but it seems to me that if local governments don't like it, they can start offering assistance to those competing companies, or work to overturn rules and laws preventing them from providing the infrastructure directly themselves, the way many do water and sewer, for example. Wow, what a fine sentence!

Until you've seen (or read the entire sordid screenplay/plot summary) the NGE movie (and the original series for comparison), you don't know what you're talking about. There is some VERY seriously FUCKED UP stuff done in that movie, and most people I've seen talking about it think basically Anno was tired of the NGE Otaku and wanted to break their heads into little pieces by being as outrageous as possible. He succeeded, but managed to completely destroy any sense of character that had been established in the original series. I'd say that there are several things that could be edited out to make it a better movie.
