propofol is already one of the most widely used anesthetics (if i remember correctly, its actually a hyponotic, but thats beside the point). Using a mixture of gases and injection reduces the dosage required for any individual drug drastically, meaning less of a reaction to any given drug. It spreads it around so to speak.
I'm not sure how much medical usage really can effect the ozone layer, because it is contained by the anesthesia machine and metabolized by the body, meaning it isnt released into the atmosphere. I don't know a lot about its other uses though. I'm just familiar with it in the operating room.
I agree. Its not the model that is broken, it is the society that isn't raising kids up to want to participate. Science and math are almost vulgarities it schools, its more fun to be in the drama team (official or unofficial).
Once you have the infrastructure in place to do something, all that would be stopping them is "oh, we said we wouldnt do that". Give permission to set it up, sooner or later its operations will be expanded. Government, ANY government, by its nature is always seeking to increase its control over its citizens. A Constitution is intended to limit how it can do so, unfortunately, we dont use ours like that anymore.
a year or two ago I would have somewhat felt inclined towards such statements. Not complete agrement but acknowledging that it has a point. The way things have been accelerating towards socialism in the US recently, it just scares me now.
If it just said searches then any police investigation would be almost impossible. The implication is that awarrant is given after review that a certain search is reasonable. Now days, some have a flat reasonable status (cop sees a bloody trail in the park leading to a car trunk). The visible evidence makes it justifiable, even without a judges warrant.
Its not just its vertical distance, but horizontal. With a 320 mile range you could put it a hundred miles behind your own lines and still have two hundred miles of enemy territory covered. Not a lot of surface to air is going to reach that far I think.
Even after reading the article, it doesnt specify if that is per unit or the total cost of all the systems, including r&d. It says they are less expensive to buy and operate than comparable fixed-wing aircraft so I am hoping that is the total.
Is there really anything scientific or technological that we cant do vastly better now that 1906? Its like the captain of the senior football team boasting about stealing lunch money from a 7th grader.
Sure it will if you use the same log in for everyone. Otherwise, what's your point? You have to now pay fully for the goods and services I use?
Don't get me wrong, I dislike invasive DRM. The lack thereof, however, is not a green light to try and milk the system for something you didn't pay for or don't deserve. You always should have been using three log-ins for three different people if it is anything more than a "hey, check this out" trial before buying one for themselves.
I believe you can already download starcraft and diablo 2 if you have a valid cd key in your account. I see no reason not to continue supporting that and download starcraft 2 and diablo 3 in the same way. Everything is going towards digital distribution. I wonder if they will work something out with steam.

Sorry you got modded troll, cause I largely agree.
How is a government organization paying a for-profit company to do what that organization was set up to do in the first place to do a good idea? There are somethings that should/could be better off contracted out to private companies. There are more that shouldn't be. Most government contractors are just milking the system for all it's worth. How much did the change.gov website get contracted for?
Hate to reply to myself, but I wanted to clarify something. I'm not saying its not intuitive that it is under the privacy tab, but being an option from a drop box and not as a dedicated link means many people won't see it even if they are looking for it. The interface needs to be much more developed and accesible from both the privacy and friends pages.
I actually didn't even know that you could restrict which friends see what of your profile. Last time I tried to look into it then it was an all or nothing. If they are a friend, then they have full acess. I ended up dropping a few mild acquaintances because even though I liked them, I didn't entirely trust them enough to call them a real friend.
Just now I found how to restrict individuals on your profile. It doesn't seem very intuitive and is pretty deeply hidden. Its under the privacy tab, profile, then each drop box has the option "customize" which brings up an overlay popup. I doubt many know of it. The much much more sensible way to do it would be with groups under the friends tab.
What surprised me about the article is an extension of this. Not just pictures, but the entire profile is availible. I avoid all the Facebook quizes and crap because I already know it is a huge security hole that allows them to access your profile, but I never expected that it would also open up your friend's profile when you allow an app. That kind of pisses me off.
I've already had a ton of people think I'm crazy for going into health care right now. Many, myself included, have remarked that they will leave the field if it goes socialized. Go back to school and do something different entirely.
I work in the operating room. I see how much stuff costs and how it is used. I know the profit margins on the stuff used. I know how much work everyone is already doing, both in their position and in trying to keep costs down. Ask any doctor and they will tell you that surgery is where most of the money comes in from at a hospital. It is the big money maker, not prescription drugs.
I see the doctors trying to decide on what to use for a case based on what it costs. I see them decide not to send something to the lab because it costs to much. I see them take the cheap, difficult route all the time. Why? Because they are trying to keep costs down so they DONT have to charge so much.
Just last week I was in a case where we took a specimen. At first we weren't going to send it out to pathology because it is a minimum 500 dollar charge. That really isnt over priced. It is hard, time consuming work with high liability. Unfortunately, we had a development were the doctor had to send it. He was very pissed that he had to do so because he knew the patient could barely afford it. He didn't want to have to make him pay more.
Do you know how much goes into the medical system? How many people are employed and what they do? You can't cut any of them out. Much of that is due to liability in our legal system, ie having to audit and micromanage every little detail. That costs money because, well, the people doing it need to make a living too.
True, unless you work in the system, you have no idea what is going on. Do you think most people would want to, or would they rather complain anyway? Anyway, what I'm saying is that in most cases, it really can't get much cheaper. We are already cutting corners because we cant afford to do more.
One of the easily and often over looked problems with universal health care, is that there is literally nobody to give it. Staff are already over worked, over stressed, and under thanked.
If you go to the emergency room they already cant turn you away if you are unable to pay. I've met a few people that go there for anything, on the public's tab.

There is always someone who tries to rationalize it
I think he means that they will do it for everyone, meaning you just get to wait at the gate longer now while they do it anyway.

Almost makes me wish I hadn't sold my account with 2 70s during BC :P O well.

Anyone else find the Facebook link in the article funny?
It's not about posting anything you dont want public. Its about OTHER PEOPLE posting it about you.
