I can't get an app that will show me where the satellites are in the sky in a Augmented reality like I can on the iPad. I can't get an integration app for Microsoft One Note on android. I can't get a PDF annotation app that is as smooth and simple as the one for the iPad. Only recently was I able to get an autocad viewer for android. but not an andriod honeycomb native, it's a phone app that scales. And on and on.
Android falls on it's face with tablet specific apps simply because it has been around a short time compared to the iPad. Maybe in 2 years when the application base builds up I'll look at what android tablets are doing once more, but then I'll have to abandon all the software I bought for the iPad and re-buy all my software again.
the XOOM tablet is a nice piece of hardware and snappy... but it failed on the app front. I was lucky enough to have bought it early and chose to sell it early to get most of my money back on ebay.
I use a tablet for work. both my day job and my side photography business... and the iPad kicks android hard in the photography apps arena.
Every single Nokia, audiovox, and motorla cellphone that I have owned that had an "external antenna" was a real antenna. Yes I know it was real as I took the things apart after retiring them for parts... Nokia phones are goldmines for Hacker parts.
Fact: if you want to retain employees you have to treat them well and pay them well.
Problem: most (worthless) management does not give a rats ass about this. as this problem does not affect their 90 day outlook. Competent management does realize this and works to limit the impact.
I have seen a lot of China "copy" products, and one universal fact with them is they all are half assed and really bad copies. Software is a mess, Intentional Design flaws to cut manufacturing cost. and rejected stock components used to cut costs as well.

IN advanced CS textbooks are useless. If you are taking Grad level courses in AI and CS only a fool learns from a textbook, you learn from the guys that are CREATING the technology and use textbooks as a reference.
Unless you are attending a school where the CS profs are not the guys doing real work but just there for their tenure.... In that case go to a school where you can learn from the people that are paving the way.
For example: if you are studying WEarable Computing. go to UofToronto and learn from Prof Steve Mann or to the University of Atlanta and learn from Thad Starner. The guys that invented the tech and are the ones that are making the advances.
This is what is happening. because you can get the best of your competitors by paying a china firm to go and steal the details and make you a product. They will even deliver you a "clean room reverse engineered" certificate. Because how can it be proven otherwise...

I know of 4 installed systems that are a ticking time bomb because of this. Management has been warned about it to the point that we were told, "do not bring it up again". So we all sit here quietly waiting for the biggest customers system to explode or be compromised. Luckily many of us have a paper trail of who told us to pound sand and not fix it, so when it does explode and the CEO comes looking for heads, we have heads to serve him, and it will not be ours.
The sad part is that this SOP at most shops now. Nobody is interested in quality anymore just how fast can you half ass it and get onto the next project.
They charge $0.20US per INCOMING OR OUTGOING TEXT if you dont have a package. They intentionally price it to "encourage" you to do what is best and buy a plan.

Holy cow you had an old one, yeah all units that had an ethernet jack had room to room sharing capability.
It was not streaming but it was file transfer and playing while the file transferred. which is "technically" streaming. Kind of how a XBMC will stream video from a NAS IT starts loading the file into a ramdrive and then starts playing once the buffer is full enough to have a few second lead time. then it continues to copy the file to the player until finished into a scratch area.
Best one is iPad. I tried everything else and the PDF reader on the ipad works fantastically. Good reader is nice but the one built into iBooks renders fast and correct every time.
I did not like the choices on Android, but I have not checked for any new ones in 3 months since I switched to an iPad.

I'm a ultra little guy, I have $0.00 in the stock market. I do have 30 pounds of High quality silver and 15 pounds of 12K gold with 2 pounds of 24K gold stashed. I also have a 35 pound ingot of 99.97% nickel.
I paid far FAR less than the going rate because I put effort into it. instead of being a lazy investor and clicking on icons in Scotttrade.
Plenty of voice actors can be had for less than $10.00 an hour. and yes there are plenty at colleges that would even work for FREE To get their name in the credits of something.

Room to room streaming has been there cince 2000. Did you even try to hook up tow of them in your home?
Also the ReplayTV allowed you to extract the TV shows. there is a nice program that existed that acted like a ReplayTV on the network and extracted the TV recordings for you.
Oh yeah like Scientific Atlanta is any better. they all are shitty. Absolutely no CableTV equipment vendor for headend or STB is "non-shitty" they all pile on heaps of "shitty" as a selling feature.
It is already gathered. At comcast in 2002 I was gathering data from the boxes for sales. we had better data than Nielsen.
I can give you a breakdown of each box and what channel it was tuned to at that time reported every 5 minutes. it can report faster but that was the default of the boxes that comcast had deployed.
I pulled all of it into a SQL database so the sales people had real time demos in 5 minute increments of the number of boxes watching each channel INCLUDING VOD views.
This is not new. it has been going on for a while now.
