some people are. I gladly let the phone ring, or if I am busy I reach over and click silence. I "trained" myself that the phone is my tool and it will do my bidding. not the other way around.
I find it odd how many love to enslave themselves to an object.
If you think that military personnel can talk freely with press then you are a sucker.
They told the press what they were told to say. You are instructed what you can and can not say and it is very clear to you what the consequences are if you stray from the script you have been given.
Remember, the world is full of scumbags that think a lost item is free for them to steal.
I'm not surprised by the guys response, it's a typical human scum-baggy though pattern.
My wife did a experiment for her Phyc classes in college...
They left wallets that looked real with a few dollars in cash and some fake ID info faked Credit cards and photos in public places and watched people. near 75% would open the wallet and take the cash from inside and put the wallet back or throw it on the floor. Less than 20% would take the wallet to the lost and found. the rest stole the wallets outright.
She lost a lot of respect for humanity with that project.
Most new hardware reviews, all read 100% identical. and I am certain that at least 90% of all the reviews are rehashes of the press releases and the "reviewer" never touched the device. Plus what is it with reviews that say they used the device for hours but only use the press release photos, never take their own. If they do that , then I give the reviewer 0% credibility. If a site (like Gizmodo) does this all the time, I give the entire place a 0% credibility.
I always wait for the real user reviews. Those actually have REAL content.
By your logic we should kick Steven hawking out of college and have Keanu Reeves do astrophysics.
WE have not had a "well-informed" president or even senator in power for over 2 decades. Most of our senators and hour of representative members are not only uninformed but they intentionally go out of their way to be uninformed.
Most never even read the bills they are voting on. Most dont know what is in them.
Nice MBA degree you have there, too bad it's content is based outside of reality.
Open Source happes everywhere. Even medical fields.
Places like the Van Andel Institute are working to cure cancer and they attract the top of the crop doctors and researchers.... Not because they pay them insane amounts of money, but because they are working towards a goal that helps humanity.
In fact everywhere you will find the best of the best doing things for FREE. The ones that dont are never the Best but people who claim they are or try to act like they are.
Open source built and is running the internet. You think Microsoft would have been able to pull this off all for profit only? not a chance.
I have a friend that can play MTG, Chess, and Char all at the same time and still be pretty much unbeatable. 3 stratagem games that take a Whole LOT of attention and thought.
Radio is consumed during my 1:30 commute and 8.5 hours of work. I consume 10 hours a day of "radio" Mp3's podcasts and sirius radio... so in essence I suck up 50 hours just during work and not counting the 8 hours in the garage on saturday working on the bike or hotrod or entertaining. add in my 40 ish minutes nightly of Colbert and Daily show (my pvr rips out the commercials, so each 30 minute show is 20 minutes of content) and I am way way over the "average".
you see audio can be consumed while doing other things, it's a passive thing. Video-games require attention and active participation... far different.
Last I checked many console games are in the home theater setup. which always has far better speakers, properly set up surround sound, and at least a 900X better amplifier than any PC setup.
5.1 or 7.1 surround on a pc always balffled me. unless you set up a dedicated room, you cent set up the speakers right.
Yes and no. Gaming CAN be highly social and rewarding... I'm taking 4 player gaming at home or in a lanparty setup. Alone home in your underwear covered in cheetos dust surrounded by Bawls bottles... that is not as rewarding...
My racing group get's together to do gaming nights. we have 4 xbox 360s hooked to 4 55" plasmas and have a ball playing MWII and other games. when you can trash talk your buddy next to you, or throw things at the friend that is constantly lobbing grenades at your location and killing you 20 seconds after a spawn..... It's worth it.
I "technically" play far more than 48 hours a week, but most of that is farming bots and autoplayers responding to attacks while I auto farm.
I did have a Xbox360 playing UTIII automatically once. I used a video capture card to detect basic elements like notice when a game was done and join a new one or was in game.. and it basically ran around randomly (gotta love bluetooth to make it easy to have linux-> xbox360 controls. Basically a python script.. not hard to do if you know python and look up the xbox360 hacking resources.
It kept joining games and playing for 4 days straight. My "rep" shot up like crazy as people added me to their Like list.
Honestly, games that require farming are not fun during the farming stages and automating that aspect makes the game fun again.
So if you looked at me "in game" I'm way WAY over what these guys are.
If you want to get good video quality in most lighting conditions and to be able to zoom in and catch cops doing their thing from a distance that makes it obvious who they are then you need to buy a good video camera.
Canon GL-1 and GL-2 are really good for this and are rather cheap in the used market for a near broadcast quality DV camera. you do not want HD because HD is not good in low light, and you want optical image stabilization with a long zoom. keep a tape recorded with junk on it in your pocket, and if you are chased by police, press eject, swap tapes, and ditch the good tape in a nearby bush or other items. If recording from a few hundred feet away, you will have a lot of time to do this and can plausibly act like you did not hear the cop.
If your video is good enough for TV broadcast, lots of tv stations will play it. plus when put on youtube it helps incriminate the officer as more details can be seen.
Stay a few hundred feet from the cops and you have not only time to ditch them, but they cant identify you. dress dark if at night, dress in drab colors if daytime... dont stand out.
The power plant of a single nuclear submarine would easily power a large 60 person population mars base. Considering they are not moving all that extra power can be wasted on silly things to increase comfort. The temperatures that nuclear subs run at are similar to mars and therefore would not be hard to keep the entire base at a balmy 78 degrees. Going nuke for the base would eliminate the problems of solar that far from the sun and the dust that would have to be cleaned off. The same power plant can make pure water to drink and air to breathe, just like how they do on Submarines.
In fact 90% of what we need to create a base on mars is in a typical nuclear submarine. If we could launch and plop a boomer sub on mars, it would make for an excellent Martian base.
Being that far away, it's a good idea to have multiple redundancies.. unless you don't value the life of the crew, then don't waste money on spares.
The problem has been fixed. They included a vodka dispenser with 24 months worth of vodka in it. It does limit consumption to only 3L per crew member a day.
Actually we do. we can easily create a sustainable habitat there we have the technology right now. It's all in money. We can create all the air we want IF there is water there we can tap into. send 3 nuclear reactors for power generation, (to have double redundant backup. We need a 13 month OH CRAP survivability window. if everything goes sideways for the next unmanned resupply to send replacements and hopefully land and not crater.
WE could probably do it for the yearly cost of the Middle East wars.
but war is profitable and preferable to humanity. so we choose that above a Martian or even moon colony.

Many journalists were NOT invited.
Even Leo Laporte was not invitet.
it's only a gizmodo attempt at another "ME ME LOOK AT ME!!!!"

That on it's own is utterly insane.
It's the same pile of dolts that believe the civil war was all about slavery.
They just cant get past their grade school history classes that were nothing more than happy fun storytime.
all of which are 100% useless at reading anything but a epub file.
PDF on all those suck horribly. so unless you are only using it for casual reading they are useless.
I've tried all them, they suck. I'm hoping that android will get a decent pdf reader by the time the android based readers come out...
I dont want to be stuck with my only choice being a n iPad.
Yup. That's why we dont have Nvidia and ATI video card drivers.
Damn I wish we could use Nvidia and ATI cards. as well as Intel cards and chipsets...
CURSE YOU LINUS!!!!!!!!!
That is a older MSI laptop. I have one of those that has MSI blased all across the top of it and the Bios boots saying MSI.
It looks 100% identical to a 5 year old mini laptop I bought from newegg.

4 games at once. Not a problem.
I have a friend that can play MTG, Chess, and Char all at the same time and still be pretty much unbeatable. 3 stratagem games that take a Whole LOT of attention and thought.
so simpler games would be easy to scale up.

Blur is quite addicting.. Mariokart meets Forza..
you worked on UT?
You realize how much of my life you have sucked away with that game???
Too bad the franchize fell apart.

Bet you $1000.00 that them good ol' US army troops will happily shoot and kill USA citizens. Hell air force will readily bomb your home if told to.
They did it at Ohio state. And during Katrina several of the ground troops were quoted as ready to kill Americans.
Military training works hard to get rid of them scruples and values like not killing US citizens.
The good troops are the ones that will readily disobey a illegal order, or frag an officer that orders them to fire on civilians.

this is why you record them from a distance without their knowledge.
The cop is less likely to smash some heads if you have a camera on him.
no the answer is to record the cops and post it everywhere publicly under a pseudonym to avoide being persecuted.
ALL cops need to be recorded and their actions posted on the internet and sent to news outlets.
They need to be held to a higher standard than everyone else.
