Slashdotters are so stupid. If MS was doing this you people would decry it was the end of the world. As it is, since google is such a great benevolent company, it's okay for them to do whatever they want. Welcome to the end of the world. Google has far surpassed the point where everything they do is okay. Death to google and MS.

Wow you people are stupid, not just you ac, but eveybody that complains about it. I clearly understood the first time that I would be charged recurring fees for checking my credit. That's why I use a disposable credit card from wal-mart. Check it once, use the card for whatever I was going to buy anyways, and then when they can't charge my card, they cancel my account. It's annoying yes, but nothing scammy about it, of course I consider myself smarter than the average slashdotter anyways.

It's pretty much the same in the US. A degree from a public university costs about 20-30k depending on how much you take out. In the US though, you can take out extra loans and live off the money you don't spend for tuition.

The loans are also terminated by death, and you never actually have to repay them as long as you never find a job or continue to take a few classes.

His biggest cost was probably the graduate degree. That can get quite expensive.

This is why the US has a policy of not denying health care based on pay. You can always go to the emercency room and get treated. You can go to the doctor and set up payment plans. I'm so sick and tired of people whining about healthcare. Get a fucking job and pay for the shit it ain't that fucking hard. There is no missing link because it doesn't exist.

It's the same in the US. The poorer you are the more grant money you can get to go to school. I call bs on anyone that says they can't afford higher education in the United States. Hell, I got $3500 in pell grants for this semester alone. That's more than enough to pay for classes and books at a state school. No you can't afford Harvard or any other Ivy League school on the US govt. but you can get an education. I even made over 40 grand USD last year and still got that much in grant money.
