    Because of the physical limitations of the format it's hard to make a record like a CD version, that is what the GP was referring to, because vinyl relies on the physical movement of the needle generate bass you need a large movement so generate a lot of bass, this means the grooves need to be further apart to stop the cutting head cutting through o other grooves, so you make shorter records, alternatively you reduce the overall level, but then you incur a cost in signal to noise ratio. Basically CDs are easy to master very loud, records are not.

I don't have any real problem with these ads as they are non-intrusive and are often very timely, just the other day I was talking to my wife about anti-virus and an ad for one popped up at just the same time, talk about handy. Now I don't need o search, I just talk about things in range of the microphone and wait for the ad to pop up! -definitelynotshilling

    You know what subverts democracy? Politicians going out and representing one side of the election for nothing more than personal gain, not really wanting to win, and lying repeatedly to the electorate about the realistic situation afterwards.

    Yes I think they are, there are actually very few engines on the internet and they are almost all liberally biased. I believe facebook and google used the single cam hybrid, you really can't trust it.

    That's why whenever Pol Pot comes up and people are talking negatively about him I always like to add some balance to the conversation. Like "I'm sure if there were trains he would have made them run on time", or maybe "the good thing was he was really unpredictable, which was fun".

    I've often thought if I was fabulously wealthy I would pay two sportsmen to both throw a match, but not tell them, obviously this would need to be a single player event like Tennis. Maybe someone else had the same idea with the election?

    Probably tens of millions of people would love to double their income and not even have to work anymore. That incentive is too strong.

    Funny how this argument never comes up for Billionaires, they are special flowers who are carrying the rest of society and shouldn't be taxed at all lest they desert us...

    How urgent does a problem have to be before someone like you will be motivated to improve the quality of life for the majority of humanity? I realise it might mean terrible inconveniences like driving a different type of car and recycling your mountain dew cans, but it might be worth it if means our planet remains habitable.

    Slashdot's comment system is a coupled non-linear chaotic system and therefore the chance of pipingguy reproducing the works of Shakespeare cannot be discounted. I'd bet against it though.
