I never shop there myself because I find them overpriced and unhelpful. But I was quite surprised to read http://www.fwbusinesspress.com/display.php?id=10707: they actually made a decent profit in 2Q 2009 despite slight declines in gross revenue. So someone must shop there.
You're right - "Into Thin Air" is a fantastic read. The scene at the end of the book where he has returned home and relives the horror of passing all his dead/dying hiking companions is gripping.
Anyway, I read the book while climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (not a technical climb, but still strenuous, and in fact, the highest peak in Africa.)
For those wondering, the original spam (nee Hormel spiced ham) turned 70 last year. Not coincidentally, it then followed up that accomplishment by turning 71 this year.
