Slashdot has a pretty thorough standards and practices manual, but it is unfortunately hosted on DropBox which is blocked on the Slashdot internal office network. No one's ever read it.
I interpreted that sentence as they are trying to earn money from one than more source - a diversification of income. If they lose the Google deal that are essentially hosed as a company. They want to be less at the mercy of Google, especially considering the fact that Mozilla's primary benefactor is also one of its primary competitors..
You're broadly right, but you're missing the fact that some of the information about you is gnoing to show up without you having posted it yourself..
This is not a "Facebook" problem. This is an "Internet" problem.
The concept of privacy and the ability to protect it is changing *rapidly*. Look how much has changed with connectivity, communication, and privacy in the last ten years alone. I cannot even fathom what things will be like 10 years from now.
Googles search results are based on popularity. If they want their link at the top they could, ummmm... try to become more popular.
Well yeah, but the system can be easy to game through memes. For instance, a lot of people here hold the belief that Rick Santorum is part of the Christian Taliban. Now I don't know whether Rick Santorum is part of the Christian Taliban or not, but I can see how someone might get the idea that Rick Santorum is part of the Christian Taliban. The Taliban has a lot of ideas similar to Rick Santorum's, so someone making the statement "Rick Santorum is part of the Christian Taliban" isn't necessarily inaccurate.
However, a five year gap *is* too much at that time
Why?
Why should a 29-year-old man having sex with a 17-year-old woman be illegal, but a 52-year-old man having sex with a 22 year-old woman be just peachy keen?
What was lacking is subtlety. You have to be careful when talking about Muhammad. He is a very important figure and they don't appreciate anyone saying something they consider to be blasphemous.
If you're going to insult such a revered figure, try to be more subtle.
Very few. Their campaign maangers spend a lot of money finding out every little detail about their life so far and doing everything they can to prevent stuff like this from getting out in the first place.
The improprieties you hear about in the news occasionally are par for the cost for most politicians - hell, for most people, even. Those are just the ones that slipped through the cracks.
That's the Old Testement. Chrisitianity is based of the New Testament. It's where Christ tought the church leaders to not be stupid when it comes to religion. For example, they brought a man with a crippled hand before Christ on a Saturday. See, it was illegal to work on a Saturday, and healing this guy would be against the law. Here is what followed:
Well, until Christianity decides to excise the Old Testament from their book, it's a perfectly valid example. You can't proclaim to believe the words in a book and then just pretend they're not there.
"Is it right to heal anyone on the Sabbath day?" they asked him - hoping to bring a charge against him.
"If any of you had a sheep which fell into a ditch on the Sabbath day, would he not take hold of it and pull it out?" replied Jesus. "How much more valuable is a man than a sheep? You see, it is right to do good on the Sabbath day."
Then Jesus said to the man, "Stretch out your hand!" He did stretch it out, and it was restored as sound as the other.
--Matthew 12:9-14
The point is for you know the difference between the Old and New Testaments and which ones various groups follow. For example, your point may have made sense if this were an article about religion. But since it was an article about Christianity specifically, you just showed your ignorance. You don't have to believe the story I just quoted above, but you should understand that Christianity is not about what you seem to think it is. It's called the NEW Testament for a reason.
I'm well aware, but see my previous point. P.S., the GP said "The whole bible", hence the joke. I can find New Testament examples of shit behavior just as easily.
Do you live in America? The rest of the world is far, far better with cell phone pricing than we are.
Typically in the States, I've found that you're looking at $0.25 a minute or so for prepaid plans in certain metropolitan areas. (YMMV, this is my personal experience in the NY/NJ area.)
Some cultures are heading more towards a 1984 style of control and some go for the Brave New World approach. San Francisco seems to enjoy taking the worst elements from both books and just running with it.
Why bother asking?

I should be able to find one, but it's gonna take a while. I'd say 11 years or so.
And then that gets attacked and they set up another one further back...
I think you've invented a corollary of Turtles All The Way Down: "Checkpoints All The Way Back."

Are those creative people going to share how to do it with the layman?
Yeah, and one of the features they touted when cable TV first came out was that it was completely commercial free. How did that work out for us again?
You can't vote a government out
Yes you can. We Americans did it a few hundred years ago at the tip of a bayonet.
Thanks.

The scene is a dark room with a solitary light bulb suspended by a cord. Two Chinese thugs hold an American businessman hostage.
Thug: Give us the information on the chip fabrication process and we'll let you go. Otherwise, we may have to do something... unpleasant.
Businessman: Do your worst!
Thug: Very well! Turn his home thermostat up... to 71 degrees!
Businessman: N-n-no! You bastards! YOU BASTARDS!

"Manipulating people into sex" is how the club scene works out 9 times out of 10...

Just be glad you didn't try to go paperless like I did. If you don't invest in a bidet, the bathroom can get messy.

Couldn't they run it through a few times to get it desalinated further? Or is it like how some fish will always be small enough to slip through a net?
So for some reason I want to be raped, killed with the skull of an animal wielded like a club, and then turned into a pillar of salt?
Let's find out. I hereby present The Holy Book of the Church of Brevity. Here are its contents:
Don't be a douchebag.
Love,
God
Yeah, the Africans will have the priviledge of getting half the service for five times the price, just like with pre-paid cell phones.
I dunno, that's kinda like saying a politician supports rape because he thinks prisons are a good idea.
