When jobs and zuckerberg were working out of their garage I doubt you would of had a chance in hell of getting a job even if you were willing to take less and had more experience than the peopel they did end up hireing. At the same time there are loads of companies out there that will give an older guy preferential treatment over a kid. Also companies will be far less likely to overlook things as you age. There are loads of complete crap programmers of there and a lot of them still get jobs, as they age they are more and more likely to have their lack of skill and continued lack of learning go unnoticed.
This is way out there, unlikely to happen, but just maybe there will be a combination of cars and buses? Maybe if you have a similar starting location and stopping location and time as hundreds of other people you will take mass transit, and if you do not fall into an easy categorisation as everyone else you will have custom options?

The bigger problem, in my opinion, when when they started sending out shady salesmen to talk illiterate people into buying homes with "for the first two months you pay only $5 per month " sales pitches.
They have not been priced out of the economy. Yes, a sane person simply cannot compete on material goods purchased with someone willing to have $100K owing on their credit cards, but that is the entire point. You can get along just fine, you can live like a king compared to 99% of the rest of the world. But you do need to do a little hard work, you do need to get your hands dirty, and you do need a tiny amount of restraint. This is the West we are talking about. If you are willing to have your friends laugh at you you can eat well, even by foody standards, for under a $1 a day and you can live well in a $2000 house you built yourself. These are all extreme examples, that exist all over America, but you can also just reduce your expenditures by like 15%, getting rid of that morning cup of coffee and going to the cinema every friday night; And instead of living in ever mounting debts you can have a ever mounting savings account.
The difference between living with 120% dept to equity ration and living with under 50% dept to debt ration is not going without food it or living on the street it is going with home brewed coffee instead of Starbucks (and the home brewed coffee will be of greater quality).

It is understandable that doctors who have been doing this for decades are better than people newly trained, but it seems to me that obvious for cardiac arrest victims, the absolutely best solution definitely does involve stabilising them right away in the field.
I completely disagree. Try performing a quick sort, or any high level maths sort in the real world it would take you years to sort that 1000 item list. Similarly to really low level bubble type sorts, or anything that uses recursion.
