What's funny is that if you say you use email to a teenager, they usually make some snide comment about they use text messaging, email is for old people...
SMS is just email in a more restricted format. I don't see how people honestly think it's any different. (Ok, yes I do; Most people are sheep.)
www.openpandora.org - They have about 2000 of them made and ready to go, they're working on starting up mass production, should be sending out like 200 of them to devs within the month.
I'm actually ecstatic that this has come along. I have a small computer in my car and I've been working ever so slowly using an arduino kit to interface into my old analog dials (86 Fiero), and I can at the moment, display RPM, Speed, and I'm working on temperature/oil pressure.
The thing that's sucked about all this is I have the computer underneath a seat, with a regular ol' LCD panel bolted into the middle of the car, running off of a 12v/110v inverter. (the dash has been torn out so it's using the metal-reinforced parts of the car)
I've wanted to be able to throw a screen in the middle of the steering wheel (and eventually I hope to put like 4-5 of them horizontally within a new dash once I can find a fiberglass shop to do it) so I can finally rip out the instrument panel, this seems like a good solution to it.
Kind of like my/home folder. I don't like to put everything in there. I like to scatter my pictures, documents, programs, and everything else around in/var/lib/usr/bin maybe throw a couple in/boot sometimes just for the hell of it I'll just pick a random directory and throw my things there.
If by best operating system ever made you mean mucked up a LOT of peoples intel drivers, then yes. Best operating system ever made. Every system has its flaws, even ubuntu. They're doing a fine job of fixing the mess but if it were Windows...oh wait, it was. And we did.
The producer actually verified this later on. I can't find the link. It's not that I *can't* as in it's impossible, more of a can't because if I search anything related to that topic at work, I'd probably be fired.
If my computer crashes, I won't lose my life. If my car crashes on the other hand...
With more safety equipment comes the need for more power to move it. That comes with the need for more efficient use of fuel. And then you have those select few who want the new Corvette, or the new V8 Mustang...I know I want them, but my $9k (when it was new) 2000 Hyundai Accent gets me from point-A to point-B.
Car dealers rely on a time-set upgrade path just as much as Microsoft does and lets face it, they're feeling the same pressure now.
You make a good point except for the fact that if I just hide malware in the installation file, neither of your tactics are secure.
The user is the weakest link in most attacks.
I would suspect it's going after port 22 only. If your smart enough to move the port from 22, your probably smart enough to use key pairs and then what is the point of trying to brute force you?
Focusing on default 22 is a good strategy because you'll find those who have completely defaulted settings, weak passwords, etc.
I'm seriously going to get modded troll for this but it has to be said. If this is SUCH an important thing for everyone, why haven't we created an open-source solution that's peer reviewed complete with checksums, encryption, open source hardware, etc?
I'm sure at least half of the people here at the very least have not only the knowledge but the experience (and time!).
Why hasn't the open source community stepped up to the plate? - I'll tell you why - We're complacent. Sure we get on slashdot and whine and cry about all these injustices, but none of us really care *that much* because we figure it's going to get rigged anyway.
I think I saw one. ONE. Open source voting solution out there, but as far as I remember, it didn't have hardware specs, it was just software.
Hey hey hey...Most of florida doesn't side with "the south". We aren't anti-science, anti-edumacation, anti-equality.
But as the 2000 elections showed...we're definitely anti-math.
While you only have 199 PS3's.
If it's that trivial to fix...why don't you go fix it yourself?
But your Toyota Corolla can't do 0-60 in 5 seconds can it....

THATS GREAT!!!

Until your mom gets her "Over 300gb/month" usage bill from comcast at $10,000. Hilarity will ensue.

"Intel and AMD vigorously compete." If by that you mean AMD fights tooth and nail to keep it's head above the water, yes.
Windows is one Dell of a drug!
Impressive. Only 3 total google results for Administratorizing. You sir, are my hero.
Clearly RedHat and SUSE are two companies.
I know...But I HAD to.

It's like 10 thousand spoons when all you need is a knife...
Use protection.

What would we call it? Flails? Fails? Frails?
Last I checked...EULA doesn't supersede law, rules, or other regulations that ATT has to abide by.
