I really dont think that CAT5 is ment for outdoor use without some sort of conduit (look at the pictures and you will see what im talking about).
If any one of your lines snap you could easily short out a cable, disconnect the rest of the neighboorhood, and kill the 2 switches that the line ran inbetween.
No. I ment $10 total, includeing shipping. You should know what your talking about before you post. Most users on half.com chargne just around $2 for shipping.
Im sick of hearing all these posts with people bitching about how cds are too expensive for them.
If you cant afford it new, why not buy used?
http://www.half.com is a great site for used cds, dvds, games, or whatever you want. You dont have to worry about some lamer throwing in a last second bid like on ebay, and you can easily get the cd you want in execlent shape for under $10.
Themes.org use to be something beatiful, fast, and easy to navigate, but ever since they revised it, its been hardly any of that. When they started the new themes.org awhile ago, they completely dumped the old theme database, leaving people to go to old.themes.org for any "old" themes. I hated the new site and the lack of themes it had...so i just gave up on themes.org since then.
Now they pull this. They just cant decide on one site? They should learn from slashdot, stick with what works for crying out loud.
The one thing i would like to see done with laptops are Standards.
I Would like for the motherboard of my thinkpad to be easily replaced with the one of my toshiba without any major modifcations. Right now everything is so propeitary that if something breaks you have to pay an arm and a leg to get the part replaced, and theres only one person who sells it..the manufacturer.
I personally would like to be able to build my own laptop like i build my own computers. Just pick a case, a lcd, a motherboard, etc and be able to throw it together myself. That way i could really customize it, and be able to replace/upgrade parts on the fly.
Why should i have to pay for slashdot with MY bandwidth? It certainly isnt free, so while your at it you might as well charge everyone to view slashdot.
I personally see nothing wrong with slashdot AS IT IS. Your idea would take the idea behind slashdot and screw over the people who have worked so hard to get it to what it is today.
What is exactly a "computer"? My set top dvd player is a computer..so why shouldnt that be included. Come to think of it almost all the electronics we use today have computer components, so why shouldnt this be a called a Electronics Recyling program and include everything with hazordous electronics?
As far as i know, MS LOOSES money on selling the console. But they gain money from game licenseing.
If you wish to run a Xbox game on this, you have to have the accuall DVD. Therefore MS still makes money if you use it.
So everyone is happy. The poor guy who cant afford the Xbox, but can afford the games can play them on his high end PC, MS makes a buck or 2 on the game and doesnt loose a dollar for selling the guy the console.
Im in almost the same sittuation and what works for me is the server install of 7.2.
It has very little bloat and uses a secure kernal. The only problem might be that you wont get any of the 'pretty' X window managers, just one very lite one, but you can always change that after install.
Another thing is it installs it pretty bare so you have to go back and add/enable whatever services you want.
I run 7.2 secure on a P133 with 48mb of ram, it does http, ftp, internet sharing for my lan, and my next goal is to setup SAMBA. Configureing the firewall/internet sharing was easy as pie. Just remeber to have your cd in when you do it so it can find the RPMs
I just installed this yesterday on a Mandrake 7.1 box, and ive had it up for about 6 hours now and no slowdowns/crashes yet. It uses the GTK tool kit so it fits in with GNOME pretty nicely.
LS120 drives are slightly faster than normal floppy drives at reading and writing floppys. According to Imation they are 2x the speed of the average floppy drive. And they are IDE so you could have 3 of these on a signle computer(or 4 if you net-boot or something).
This image compares temperatures at the volcano Loki, the most powerful volcano on Io... Wow, looks like Loki got a Volcano named after it... or was Loki named after the Volcano?..or its it all just an odd coincidence? Anyone Know?

Yeah! Lets all FORCE everyone to give away thier lifes work for free. What? You mean that artists make a living off of thier works?

Like they say, if it works, dont fix it.

Accually, this is good for Microsoft.

So I see nothing but good coming from this.

Anyone else notice that this is hosted on a School website?
Since when is Linux used in Schools? Let alone a Elementry/Middle/High school.
