The author of the article seems to have this idea that any changes made in GPLv3 automagicly apply to anything that's GPLv2.
There's a really good intereview on FLOSS with Eben Moglen from the FSF on the issue of the GPLv3. Even he admits that it's probably best not for the kernel to convert to GPLv3.
So, developers shouldn't port applications to comercial OSes, because free operating systems need them for people to switch to them? Is that the arguement?
Free operating systems should be good enough that the operating system itself should be enough reason to switch.
If the programs I use run both on Linux and Windows, and I pick Windows over Linux, that says something bad about Linux. It's not saying the developers of my programs are in the wrong for not forcing me to use Linux.
Well, you aren't exactly going to be playing Pacman on a PSP. Games for a system like that are usually more in depth, and pretty much require long play sessions. If you are looking for something to play for a matter of minutes, you shouldn't have a PSP in the first place. Get a GBA and play Tetris or something.
Wouldn't the wood have to be rather thick/dense/heavy to not want to crack under the pressure (thereby making the speaker ineffecient)? Wouldn't thin wood respond the same as our 20 year old paper cones?
They were not reverse engineered. Even the chilton manuals for those cars tell you how to get the codes. It's a well known method. It works on most Chrysler fuel injected cars and trucks. Key forward 3 times.
The problem is more that LEDs provide directional light, and not so much a glow in every direction.
But your arguement is very biased. Radioshack has the most overpriced LEDs that I have ever seen. LEDs normally run well under $1. They are really cheap if you buy them in bulk.
You can already buy replacement bulbs for your car that are LEDs. I honestly don't see home lighting as far behind. The technology is almost there (if it isnt already).
Why do they call it CE? I thought that name was dead?
The good thing about this is the PocketPC/WinCE electronics do not control things like fuel delivery and such for the engine. It merely controls accessories.
Spark and fuel control should never be controled by something so complex that it can run any windows operating system. The megasquirt is a perfect example of how fuel/spark controllers should be. Simple, but yet very functional.
Too bad the megasquirt fires all the injectors at once, otherwise I would get one for my car.
No one on here seems to have accually played Chrono Trigger...
Chrono Trigger for SNES does not have random battles. That is why the article author hates it. He is a random battle fan boy.
Chrono Trigger lets you see the eneimes on the map, so that you can avoid them, or target them. Chrono Cross for PSX is the same way.
Both games are some of the best RPGs out there IMO. Think final fantasy, with a more in depth story line, multiple endings, and a 'better' battle system.
It's a matter of preference. Random battles, or Other.
I personally prefer RPGs without random battles. Random battles discourage you from really exploring the game, because every 5 steps you take, you will have to deal with another battle.
I think games like Chrono Cross/Trigger, and the Grandia series do it RIGHT. You should be able to see the enimies, so that you can avoid the battles, or target the battles if you so wish. But thats just my preference.
The Final Fantasy series will never change the way it does battles. It wouldn't be Final Fantasy if it didn't have random battles.
Also, the person who wrote this article doesnt really say anything new. It's just a random battle fan boy saying how those of us who prefer RPGs w/o random battles are just plain wrong. Again, I think it's just a preference. If you do like random battles, it's not like there is anything to complain about. MOST of the RPGs out there do have random battle systems.
Even though I do not prefer random battle systems, I like that I can just choose to play the few RPGs without them. I don't have to have one or the other forced down my throat.
With memory cards I can rent games and keep my saves, I can share my saves with other people, I am not limited to the amount of saves I can store (I can buy a crap load of memory cards if I want to).
Personally I see no need for this at all. Most of my cds are installation cds. I have no need to store anything else on them. If I need to store something on a cd, I can burn a CD-R/RW. The only real uses I can see for this is for anti-piracy mesures.
So..If by some act of god, radiation, whatever, I gain some odd ability similiar to that of a super hero, I am denyed all the privilages of a normal citizen?
Sure, you can laugh and say it will never happen, but IT COULD.
Your just talking out of your ass. I would say that windows has just as much free software as linux. Your just bashing MS. Someone please mod this down.
I agree that we should be concious of the envirouments health, but i hear too many scare tactics being used. The world was suppose to end ages ago according to yesteryear's biologists.
If you ask any real car audiophile they will say that Sony is a second rate company when it comes to car audio. Both Sony and Pioneer now have HD based headunits out now.
Why is sony getting the hype and no mention of the Pioneer?
No. If you have Opera 9.x and Aspell installed right click on any text area and you'll see "Check Spelling" as an option.

Disappointingly short at only 5 minutes. He did a really interesting interview on FLOSS last year, that people might find more interesting.
When a team tried to unlicensed port Chrono Trigger to the PC, they didn't last very long. Given Blizzard's history, I don't see it lasting very long.

If they ported all the games to PC, it would defeat the point of consoles.

We all know how wonderful Square action games always turn out.
Yeah. Kingdom Hearts was a real falure, wasn't it?
Sounds like some deformed offspring of the marketing departments of Apple and Microsoft.
Are they going to have a server version called iDOTnet?
I thought of this too..I perfer memory cards.

Nah, its more like this..
What caused those earthquakes? Terrorists.
What destroyed the World Trade Center? Terrorists.
Who left the toilet seat up? Terrorists.
Now lets all rip on the bill of rights and fight those terrorists!

The google cache seems alittle out of date. The "What remains to be done" section is gone from the real page.
