  1. Re:Solution on Googling May Break Copyright in Canada · · Score: 2, Insightful

No, half the internet usage is on Bit Torrent.

And that's quite possibly the dumbest idea I've ever heard, thank god it's a joke. Seriously though, to point and laugh at a law that hasn't even passed and assume your system is better is just a fucking riot. I'm killing myself laughing over here, please stop. I don't see the RCAA busting down my grandmother's door and arresting her, do you?

  2. Fido... on New Phone Service Promises to ID Songs · · Score: 1

There's a cellphone service in Canada that started doing this last year. It was heavily advertised. I never saw any reason to use it, but to claim that this is a new service is just stupid. It's not.

I noticed the topic on the site, the topic makes no sense. "Pirates Steal Negative $1,400,000,000 from Music Industry" If pirates steal a negative amount, aren't they giving? So pirates gave $1,400,000,000 to the music industry? (yes I know how it really is)

A while ago, Tim Sweeney made a small game, which had a level editor in it. It was called ZZT, and had a built-in programming language (called ZZT-OOP), it spawned a few clones, and gathered a massive underground community.

Come on, wasn't "sexy" Macintosh's idea to publicitise SCSI? Whether or not SCSI is better, it's not by much. The price of an adapter is quite high also. Let's just waste our IDE ports, and parallel owns j00.

Now I have a good reason to keep Q3.. but how long will it take for mod designers to create something worth playing over and over again? Will we wind up with a sleuth full of useless crap mods, and a few great ones? I would really like to see Counter-Strike (which was for Half-Life...) in the Q3 engine.

  23. Heh, remember Mars? on Life on the Moons of Jupiter? · · Score: 1

Do we all not remember when we discovered micro organisms on Mars? I don't believe we cared. I wouldn't think we'd see anything special at this time, Earth is the only terraformed planet in this Galaxy, but if life exists elsewhere, it may be a clue that it will happen again, soon (being a few billion years). Until then, how about we try and get something far into another universe for research?

  25. Re:Guns don't kill people - I DO on Maybe Video Games Don't Make Kids Kill · · Score: 1

The thing I find the most amusing about this entire topic of "Death Simulators" is the fact that the game they used to explain computer game violence, was Doom. How old is Doom? If you find 2D pixelated sprite blood to be violent, it makes me wonder if your vision is alright. Not only that, but you can only move your gun along the x axis, you can't aim up and down, the game pretty much does it for you. If they chose Quake2, over Doom, I would have given this whole debate a little more consideration, but up until now, it's just too stupid. We all remember them blaming it on TV, Movies, and Music. What's next, food?
