Please a modicome of decorum would be apreciated. Yes laptops are slower but not all gamers use doom, quake, or unreal, as there are games that dont use up all resources available.
Well aparently you didnt notice this until you read THG so you should feel dirty. Seriously it's a good thing for the battery life. I have seen almost all laptops useing this to extend battery life. Even ZDNET's computer shopper posts there test with speed step enabled and unenabled so you can compare both ways.I think the real problem is that this guy just doesnt understand what he reads.

Well this troll is obviously disgruntled, or layed off. He doesnt know that its the choices that count. I have been enjoying the choices available to me in the Linux world for several years now and would never go back to micro$h_t again. If I cant find a good chat client I just do with out or get my friends to change to one I can use

What a lot of people are missing is the fact that a fair price needs to be charged. We can not always get our "free beer" some times there is a need to pay for the free speech. All of us should remember that we like this or that of Lindows but not all of it, THAT IS GOOD.One of the things that I find refreshing in this os is that they are charging a fee that should allow them to be able to make a profit and stay in buisness. As for the firewall thing, a firewall is enabled by default on the install (as per Lindows and the article), and it is linux after all and built on debian so you can add users and change the fault of root login by default. This is a good thing and the fact that it is not fritening to newb's is very good at first I was very frustrated ( and still get that ways sometimes) with an install that can be very dificult to implement ( works here not there ).
My first computer was an imsi 8080 and used an old tv for a monitor that is after you programed from panel switches so the paper tape reader would work and it had about 8 k of ram we added a cassette tape drive for storage it had no hdd and you coded small
well there is one more thing that needs to be adddressed and that is the fact that most of the AOL junkies also run a lot of games, (I.E.) their mostly kids that mom and dad have given a computer to the os will have to address the issue of directX or write some real games on a regular issue and educational software for smaller children will also have to be written or ported
I have installed it twice on 98 machine's with no problems and am using there sync software on my Mandrake 8.1 desktop now I am using winex and directorie copies from 98 machine

I too waited the 6-9 weeks for my preorder. I called them on their posted phone number on their site and talked to friendly charming and concerned women who responded to my request about the delay in shipping she then gave me an email and confirmed the fedex ground shipping and gave me a tracking number I guess that it never acccured to some one to call be polite and ask for these things
ps It pays to be firm but not threating I also like my unit I recieved
I have a linuxDA Powerplay III myself, I found that by using wine against "Winders" dll's and it works fine from my mandrake 8.1 desktop a little slow and small ( my res is 1280 x 1084) but definetly usable and there is a sdk available on their site if you want to make something your self
